Hey all,

A long time ago someone made a model of a map for me, but I was never able to export it into halo. I do not have the proper software to open up the map. But I was wondering if someone here was willing to do it for me. Here is a picture of the map:

Now I know nothing about exporting a map or anything, so if someone could just get it to where I can open it up in sapien it will be appreciated.

I also heard this map is a little hi-poly with 189,517 polys and 128,812 verts. Now I'm not sure if that's too many or not, as I know nothing about this. Maybe you could optimize it?

You will be credited for exporting this map, if it were to be released.

I did not create this map someone else did. And I cannot ask the original creator of this model, because I have no means to contact him.

Thanks.

I also asked skidrow925 to do it, but he had some problems.

Couple of notes:

Sgt Major created it.

I tried to use the optimize modifier but I couldn't figure out how it works. I doubt reducing poly's will be all that hard except I personally didn't have the skill's to do it.

I'll give it a go. I've gotten terrains like that in game before. Nice looking terrain. I'd love to have a closer look. Post link or PM me a link or something

No clue. I lost my computer a year ago, and lots of unfinished projects with it.

I'm working on optomizing it. With all the diagonal edges oriented alike, half of them screw up the optomize, making wrinkles in the tops and bottoms of the cliffs and hills. I'm thinking maybe I can script up something to make diagonal edges invisable, and then try optomizing as an editable poly.

Multires didn't look too great either, and was too cpu intensive to bother with.
Instead, I rendered a heightmap to texture and displaced a poly, re-triangulated, and with that, the optomize worked fine.

Rough draft, over-optomized. But you can get an idea of it's general layout. I'll do it over with more detail in a day or two.
Also, it's a solo map. Make an init.txt with the text "map_name IcyWinds" in ce's programs folder to auto-load the map at start.

Wow, Thanks a ton. This is really good, I sincerely thank you. I'm sure a lot of people will like this.

Thanks again.

Your welcome.
I'm gonna wait and see how you populate the map before making a higher poly bsp. Also I was thinking ice might be good in the lower areas.

Alright, the map itself isn't going to be to populated with scenery and things, I just want it to be kinda a snowy wasteland. If you want to add ice you can, it really doesn't matter.

I might do a short little SP out of this too, I'm not sure, it's a little small. Anyway, I'll send you the map files when I'm done with the MP version.

I thought it was small too. Maybe double or triple?

Sure, whatever you think works best.
