So I just got my Xfire set up as Xoronatus (what else:P)

It seems pretty nifty. I used it to record a video, and it is nice and easy to use in-game, but the file-sizes are absolutely insane. 178 megabytes for 2:16 seconds of video on "half-size," and at 25 fps. And the quality is decent but, not spectacular.

So I noticed on Lat3ksi's montages, he plays on all kinds of different maps. So to get the real CE experience, do you guys friend each other on Xfire, and then set up games on custom maps together? Because that sounds like the way to do it.

I used to have an xfire, but I don't use it as I'm painfully shy to chat with people.
Even with people from Halomaps. ;_;
If you really want to hear me complaining about my life, then my xfire is shinygible or john1174 If I feel like yelling.

I use it as a free good video recorder, though I usually compress the video in Sony Vegas before I even edit it just so I can lower the size and make it easier on Vegas. But Xfire is a good way to keep in contact with people you need to talk to.

Ok, well I sent you a friend request. Well, I don't have Sony Vegas, but I do have Windows Movie Maker Vista Edition :D So I'll compress the ridiculously large files there.

windows movie maker will kill the quality of your videos, i recorded a test video at 60 fps and movie maker made it look like crap, maybe the vista version is better idk.

BY the way, Ipronounce the X like a z, like Zoronatus.

So, I might add some people on Xfire. Then we can talk :D

In terms of movies, well, I'll compress them as much as I can without messing up the resolution. It usually messes that up.

I've never had a problem with video file size or quality. (mostly due to the fact that i edit using either itunes or real player. XD) Most of the time i find it easiest to set the xfire recording dump file as a compressed zip file. (idk if this will work for everyone but it does save me from some embarrassing lag issues ingame due to xfire)

I recorded some gameplay through Xfire - but considering my computer is so old, I had to drop the resolution, detail, basically everything to their lowest values to not lag (as much) while recording.

Compiling five separate videos into one (26 minute long video) took WMM over five hours to save >.<

Either that's just because the Xfire file sizes being so huge without compression, or my crappy-as-hell computer...or both :|

I really can't wait to get enough cash to custom-build a new computer...

They really aren't. Xfire has a surprisingly low filesize for video.

They are not. Take a video in Fraps, then take one that's the same length in Xfire.

If you have an ATI card, you can use FRAPS to record video and AVIVO HD to shrink the filesize down to the double-digits.

I may have an ATI card (Radeon 9000 Pro), but my computer as a whole sucks so badly, it would take just as long to record and compress any videos I make as I did with Xfire and WMM >.<

Do you see what I'm saying man? 26.5 MB is flipping tiny for a raw video longer than 4 seconds.

Yeah, but-

A) How long was the video?

B) How long did it take to compress it?

'Cause when I compiled five videos (a 26-minute compilation), it took over FIVE HOURS to fully save >:|

I don't see why it would unless your computer is slow. Using WMM, it took me ~45 minutes to encode a 10 minute video.

Sony Vegas, 10 Minute video about 30 minutes on highest settings (Ingame) compressed to an mp4 file at 6000bitrates.

My video was 1:20 and I converted it to supposedly 1080p HD, it didn't make any difference in quality :( It took like 4 minutes to finish.

xfire is gay. everybody there is, weak. . i remember a kid got mad at me because i said he eats fried chicken and drinks koolaid.them there is this kid that, pretends he has a friend and made to different accounts and thinks i dont know that he is just a lonely kid.and he makes up stupid stories that some, kidnapper is following him with a rpg 47 (yes he said that).the only reason i made a xfire account is to ask matt for some halo 3 tags, when i first got into halo ce.he never gave me any :(

You can always try converting the video into H.264, but the quality all depends on the original export settings and the conversion settings.
