What happens ingame if parts of a bsp intersect? Like say a SEALED pointy cone intersects into a SEALED rectangular building?

All faces still have collision. It would act the way you would imaging it would.

I Know this still works and compiles, but I also heard that this causes "phantom" bsps. Is this true? Edited by XlzQwerty1 on Jun 20, 2011 at 09:37 PM

You should get z buffered triangles or phantom triangles. EDIT: Neither are fatal in compilation, phantom triangles suck and z buffers can make 'pockets' of collision that you can't see because of backface cull. Edited by SlappyThePirate on Jun 20, 2011 at 10:26 PM

Would it affect the gameplay though?

Phantom BSP would. Some area's in the map(which you can't see) will not allow you to shoot through one side.

Check the back of red base in the valhalla build I sent you, lol. Just stand by where the red team tank spawns on ctf and shoot in the direction of the hog.

There is invisible pieces of geometry that you can shoot trough one side and when shooting from the other side your bullets will collide with said geometry and not hit your target if they happen to be behind the geometry.

There's something like this in Blood Gulch, as well. Take a tank, head over to the area between the Rocket Launcher and Fuel Rod Gun and fire above the Blue Base. Your shots will impact a dirt "wall" and not go any further.
This is in both PC and CE, by the way.
