A thread at Atariage (great forums you should all join) and someone was wanting to know a bit about the game Hover! that came with Windows 95. Then I watched a video of gameplay from Hover!, and was like, "this would make an awesome map for playing Halo.
So as a gamer and not a programmer, it would be awesome if someone would make a map like Hover! and release it.
/edit For those of you that have never heard of it, Hover! was on the Win95 cd, a hidden little gem that had to be installed separately back in the day. There is one gameplay: CTF.
There is one vehicle, a hovering triangle car thing, it acts almost identically to a ghost but with more sliding.
I used to work at a hospital, and they left a server on with the win95 cd in the drive and I played it across the network for many many nights.
Oddly, there was no shooting and being single player there was nothing but AI, but they got to shoot at you.
It was a neat game and it would be fun to take an armored and armed guy in there, blast those automated things. Edited by nathanallan on Jun 13, 2011 at 10:38 PM

I've never heard of Hover! I have a Win 95 disk somewhere around here, I'll have to check it out.

For win95 it was a great game, and once you see the map it's on I think you'll see it would make a great Med-Lg map for Halo. I am really surprised nobody else has commented. Or that people don't know about that map. It's classic.

The map looks nice for nostalgia but it doesn't look like it would be that great in Halo. The map wasn't designed for a first person team shooter.
The actual design of the map is extremely basic, my suggestion to anyone willing to do this is to find a birds-eye view of the map. I'm assuming that some textures you would need are in the game files themselves, you could try there.
The hover craft vehicle is possible in Halo, as well as a first person view, I believe. I never studied vehicles in Halo:CE that well, so I'm not sure as to their limitations.

Well, the tall walls and long ramps are common, the hovercraft act almost exactly like Ghosts. Hover is a driving/CTF game, used to play it a lot and it was fun as it was. Like I said before, it would make a nice larger map.
No, not designed as an FPS team shooter, but a FPS CTF, that sounds nice. You really do have to play it and see how everything works. Youtube vids don't do it justice.
If I knew how to make maps I'd go for it, but I am just tossing the idea out there, it seems liek it would be a lot of fun.

Disagree. Nice big playfield, obstacles and goals. I think it would do great.
