People on this site have already been explaining FP legs. I've been working with a few different work arounds. As you should know from the other threads, the legs are a different biped from the top half. However if your player is the head, then you can't crouch by normal methods, nor can you command the legs to hop into another vehicle.. I don't even think it lets you change weapons (haven't touched it in a while) But then, the next idea is to be the legs.. but now you want to view from the heads position so you can see the legs... so you have to set the camera to FP of the head, making it SP only right there (because, it's to hard to determin local player.. I could do it to an extent (Might do some tests on how acurately I can do it))

Thats all I remember off the top of my head. I'll talk more about it later.

Actually if you fixed the issues with the covenant shade turret (its funny walk and its lack of the ability to climb walls and ceilings) you'd have hours of lawls from just watching people hanging upside down.

Jumping tanks, ftw lol. I'll start that after this post, should only take like 3 minutes.

What game had a turret that could walk and climb walls?.. I don't remember ceiling cat in any halo games..

switching weapons doesn't sound that entertaining. Anyways, if you feel like doing it, take a vehicle with the portable volume trigger stuff on it (two bipeds looking at eachother) and a braindead AI driving this vehicle fowards without physics so it can leave the map. When they (bipeds) see someone, check what weapon they are holding, what weapon the person in the turret is holding. set starting equipment (loosing the amount of ammo they had) using variables for a second so you can keep how much health each player had (since changing weapons would reset their health and shields) this is going to take alot of starting equipment setups to handle all possible sets of two guns. (thats why its extra boring.. to much combos)

I am disapoint. it is boring. mb if I took all those safety things off it would be funner... and times the travel speed as well as flying speed by like 100 times.

I'll upload the tags in a few minutes, I just want to try a localplayer test I just thought up that I think will work perfectly.

So, pokemon is the next desired thing?

and update on my localplayer test new idea.. it totally failed. I then decided best/laziest thing to do is have a script run at startup, who ever is in the spawn volume is local, and then just set deathless on.. problem solved. toss that into a FP leg script and I think its good to go lol, just means you can't do ctf, oddball or slayer as in slayer, nobody gets any points, and ctf/oddball... can't exactly deal with who ever has flag/oddball lol. Since I should have all my old stuff, and that lazyass method together, might as well toss it together atleast... but thats after ive exausted your list of things that may interest me.

@Kirby - The covenant shade turret had nonfunctional walking animations (it was meant to me a mobile annoyance seeing as it sitting still makes it an easy target. I figured having it walk on the ceiling or on walls like flood spores would make its usage in bloodgulch or such maps laughable and a decent counter to the human tank [provided the tank driver is not me, in which case you are screwed])

The pokemon setup is comming along slower than I would of hoped, but its working so far. The catching is a little buggy at the moment (trying to perfect that before setting up using your caught pokemon)

Your catching chances are pokemons current life is a scale of 0-10, times a random number, 0-10. Then if that number is higher than a random number from 0-100, you catch it. So, you could have a full life pokemon caught, or a almost dead pokemon not caught, but your chances are still higher the lower their health is. the problem is I have the pokeball as a AI driven vehicle, nad it keeps going after pokemon ive already caught since the boxes I kept them in are right behind a wall beside my testing area lol. Should be fine now that I moved them away, but I felt I'd give you guys a status update on it right now.

Like any pokemon trainer, you start with 5 pokeballs, when you run out, thats the end of the map. if you caught all 5 wild pokemon, it executes game_won, if not, game_lost.

Can you make the grenades in multiplayer detonate from other grenades like in single player. I have always wanted to do warthog launches on multiplayer maps.

for some reason, destroying a projectile made them like 5x stronger.. I think you can tell by when I shoot the charged plasma pistol shot, it kills me. If I threw a grenade on a dead guy, even on my current computer with 8GBs ram, quadcore, it shows this bright dynamic light, freezes there for a second or two, adn then im on the other side of the map sliding aross the sky as a corpse.



Pokemon is SP, because the wild pokemon are AI. You directly control the caught pokemon (have the basis of this system made and tested(not that complicated, just anoying to switch), just need to apply it to your caught pokemon) im about to go play some PS3, ill work on that more tonight.

IDEA: Airbender theme where you could control the elements? Air, would be a force of wind, Fire, would be like flamethrower flames, water, idk, a rush of water like a stream, and idk about rocks and ground lol, that would be SO epic though :D, Do you think you could do it?

It may not be a lawl, but someone could make a detailed tutorial on sprites. Not just a reticle, not just a transparent texture or hud, but varying spites for particle effects. Such as the bitmaps used in:

flamethrower:
weapons\flamethrower\effects\defoliant.particle_system

pistol flash: (and flames used on the chopper)

effects\particles\flash\flash h pistol side.particle

Infuafadafi (name?) guy makes good particle effects and custom sprites that transition particle effects - but noone has made a "quality" tutorial

So, for a shield burst effect LOL: masterchief farts flames when his shields pop? (particle effect - with custom flame sprites, multiple bitmaps and indexes, plox?

Can this get back on topic? Anyways, my mouse has been acting up, so I've been playing PS3 instead since it doesn't need a mouse. I've done like 10 lines of code on the pokemon one since last time I posted.

Anyone know how long microsoft wired mouses usually last? probably gonna get one of those since they apparently have good warranty (so that if it messes up, I get a new one yayz (my mouses die faster than any other hardware I own))

I hope you mean Logitech wired mice (mine has lasted me about 6 years and is still going strong. Of course, i'm not to sure about the comparisons between my trackball and regular mice though XD)

So hows the progress on the "capturing" going?

Capture is doing fairly well now; its no longer catching multiple pokemon with one pokeball. For some reason, 1 game tick isn't enough for the game to realize a variable changed, so I made it wait 10 and its working decent. Now the only real issue is the pokeball flying where it wants.. it almost gets to an enemy, then decides to go else where.. and I guess the fact that when the enemies are unaware, the pokeball can catch them from 20 feet away the moment you use it lol, I guess an if with a sleep_until will fix that part (delaying that loop until its garrenteed that the pokeball is on its way, etc. ill explain that more later)



and I was thinking of the microsoft wired mouse since it was 29 dollars and aparently is claimed to have decent warentee, so get that instead of the 20 dollar other cheap mice, etc. What I should do is get a mountain of those 5 dollar bargin bin mice... but I don't trust those anymore, because the package lied.. its meant to change color, but it doesnt! I am mad at that mouse... it just glows blue.. its meant to go green, red, purple, and blue. And what got me more mad is a kid who bought the newer version of that mouse, and his does change colors. I seriously sat there for 3 hours waiting for that mouse to change colors since it never said how often it changed... then it started falling apart because it was in my laptop bag, and cost 5 dollars. Isn't story time fun?

Do you know what I really hate more than anything?..... When things are working 100% perfectly until you try to record them.... Because of that, I'm done with it. It did what I was requested of earlier before I tried recording, I don't care if it still does or not (stupid recording stuff... + the lack of a mouse, rawwwwwrrrr).

Why not just have it give you a gun that's ready animation is that? Also, why a FP animation? from your statement, you want the FP animation to be the reason your on the other side too.. you do realize FP animations aren't world oriented, right?


Anyways, I'm gonna wait until I have a new mouse to do anything else. Feel free to keep listing ideas in the meanwhile.

Here's a few Ideas

Exploding Lava Lamps (shoot detonation and trip detonation variants)
Soda Hand Grenades (For the supreme lulz)
Rocket Propelled Chainsaws (that stick into you like a needle and continually hurt you)
Cloud that kills you (Syoban Action ftw?)
LulzLauncher? (Ground plate that throws you in air really high up, never saw it coming)
Re-Volver? (Fake Revolver that brings out that "BAM" flag instead of a bullet, then actually explodes in your hand, killing you and everything around you)

I'm doing some H2V stuff at the moment, but next thing on my list is a few more FP leg tests. Keep posting ideas.

It's actually called the Lol'ler launcher that launches you/ and your vehicle super uber high because of a physics glitch. I don't think that's a fun way to play with but it would be awesome for a troll map.

H2V rather than HCE, but its flying stuff around. Because of that, I've already had as much fun as I can throwing things around (ok, mb I can have a bit more fun with fusion coils, but still, thats H2V)

Well... i guess that works... i was actually most impressed wth the last few seconds of video when you were sliding the warthog(on its tires) on the wall; it actually gave me a rather devious idea involving all vehicles being able to "climb on any surface." XD
