Just noticed something I can't work out. (something to add to the ever increasing and long list...)

The Scorpion's rider damage fraction is 0.18. The rocket launcher's damage is 300-330 units, with a passthrough penalty of 0, so damage applied to the driver on a hit to the tank should be around 54-60 units, but in-play the driver seems to take full damage from a rocket hit. Am I missing something? Is it because the lawnchair is in the High Explosives category...?

Open the vehicle in gurrilla, the box saying "damage to driver" or something similar should be checked. Otherwise, you can just think of it as the player sitting on an oh-so-comfortable gas tank. ^_^

I had a quick look but couldn't see a checkbox like this, but it sparked something off in my head - in the collision geometry file, for all vehicles, it says 'pass area damage to children' and this is checked for the Scorpion. However, my original point still stands - does the rider damage fraction not apply to area damage, then? Or is it for SP only, or something?

It just doesn't seem to quite add up, is all!

By "children" it meant the passengers (ie - in single player each marine had a health bar when they were on the tank; you get hit, they died first. This doesn't quite work in multiplayer due to connection issues and host updates etc.)

I believe you are correct in assuming it doesn't apply to area damage because vehicles like the tank aren't equiped to take sectional damage.(ie- its tracks) It may be a slight oversight in the programming or an attempt to prevent the tank driver from being too susceptible to bullets.

I see. This sort of makes sense, I guess...!

Basically what I wanted to do was reduce the rockets effectiveness against tanks, and make the tank a bit tougher in general, but adjusting the rider damage fraction doesn't appear to do a lot... Is there any other way around this?

-EDIT-
I FINALLY GET IT
Sorry, epic slowness there - rider damage fraction, as you said, switchblade, is what fraction of damage applied to the driver is applied to the passengers. It all makes so much sense now. I think.

Hah, thanks everyone.
