Since it seems a handful of people are complaining that there's no tutorials or anything I'll just rectify that right now.

Legit free copies of 3ds max for students.

Modeling (ordered by experience) :
(EXCELLENT TUTORIAL)

http://www.moddb.com/games/half-life-2/downloads/model-a-3d-glock-weapon

Rendering

http://www.halomods.com/ips/index.php?/topic/26-model-rendering

Sites you should watch for any relevant information.

http://www.polycount.com/

http://game-artist.net/forums/

http://www.modacity.net/forums/

http://www.halomods.com/ips/

Add more and sticky I guess?

Obviously you won't find a tutorial here to cover everything, and I can't stress ENOUGH how experimenting on your own without guidance is a CRITICAL part of learning to model either. so gl hf

The important ones still do, shame though, despite being minor those other ones were pretty good.

You are a kind, contributive member SeL and I for one thank you for these tutorials.
It'd be a good idea to sticky this indeed, but that is for "Big D" to decide.

idk how much these will help, but then again, maybe it'll cut down on the amount of stuff showing up here where the only feedback I can give is that the person is doing pretty much everything wrong :s

Yeah, cutting down on that kind of 'feedback' is needed here overall. Hopefully the tutorials you have linked to will force people to stop and redo everything with a professional technique!

If you ever want to advance as a modeler/texture/anything artist it's important to get feedback from places OTHER than one where there's at most 3 people who you can considered well rounded. The ones Sel posted are great ones to go to so consider branching out if you really want to get better.

Wait a sec, Halomods has closed shop a looong time ago. I have been searching for another forum like it since then until I found Halo Custom Edition. Ahh the nostalgia
