Some weeks ago, the game worked fine.
I changed nothing, but now the game always starts to freeze after some minutes. It's freezing all the time for 10 seconds or more, sound of the last 2-4 seconds is repeating then.
Installed latest graphics card driver, tried the "safe mode" and more. the same.
After closing Halo, other games don't work either.
in Minecraft, i've only got 0.2 FPS in the main menu, rFactor doesn't even start.
When the game is freezing, there are some pixels white for a second. not many, only 50-100 pixels. When playong online, there's a horrible lag after every freeze. tried reinstalling, no changes.
What's wrong?

System:
Windows XP
Intel Pentium D (2x3,00)
nVidia GeForce 6700XL
1Gb DDR2 RAM (I think =D)

No unknown process running.
my RAM? don't think so. Every game works now if I haven't played Halo before playing it.
Minecraft is much more laggy, but i think that's because of the new updates. yesterday, Halo worked. why not now? if it is my ram, is it possible to solve the problem?Or is it possible that it happens because i'm playing with wrong nVidia settings?(i think they aren't wrong, but it might be possible) I'm now playing with -vidmode 1920,1080,60 could that be a reason? game freezing even if its on 1600x900, so i think thins is not the reason, but it could be possible, too.

EDiT:Okay i tried to open the task manager and watch the cpu, but i wasn't able to look what happens when the game is freezing, but with the next freeze, my computer suddenly rebooted. I don't know why.
also i tried the original Halo Combat Evolved. same with it
