Adjutant Map Pack

By: =UBE= Chief

Descriptions:

This is a map pack containing four SP/MP converted maps: AoTCR, b40-arena, Cartographer and Conflict.
Each map has its Pros and Cons, and some of them have many ways around them, and some have secret weapons, so search thoroughly.
Play as four Halo 3 Spartans: Mark VI, EVA, CQB and Recon (different each time you spawn).

AoTCR:
A group of Spartans were assigned to watch over the Control Room in case of Covenant attack.
Now that the war is over, no word from HIGHCOM has come to them, relieving them of their duties.
Instead, another group of Spartans have landed, with word from ONI to neutralize any resistance.
So, with these conflicting orders, both teams go to war...

(Works with all gametypes.)

b40-arena:
Security lockdown has shut off main access routes to and from the Control Room, trapping two Spartan teams inside a two-floor section.
With boredom setting in, the small group of Spartans did what they were ingrained to do:
Fight to train.

(Works with all gametypes except Race.)

Cartographer:
Even though the war is over, new groups are seeking the destructive power of Halo.
Two such groups have made it to a newly-discovered Installation, intending to fire it.
However, they must first find where the Control Room is hidden. You are a Spartan assigned to this duty.
You objectives: Find and activate the Cartographer, and eliminate any opposing forces.

(Works with all gametypes.)

Conflict:
Alone in the swamps of Halo, you and your team must find a way into the Library to secure the Index.
The Monitor wanders alone, pausing every now and again to look at you and your team.
Little do you know, another Spartan team has landed, with the exact same objectives as yours.
There is one little catch, however: ONI thinks you and your team have gone rogue, and have dispatched this new team to either bring you in for questioning...
Or kill you where you stand.

(Works with all gametypes except Race.)

Now that you've gotten past the wall of text (and hopefully read it, too), now we can get to the reason why I'm posting this.

I'm looking for beta-testers.

Not just any beta-testers, betas that do NOT have any bias towards SP/MP converted maps, or CMT tagsets. If you don't like either, please, do everyone a favour, and don't reply.

Now, in terms of the maps inside the package: AoTCR and b40-arena are both updated maps that I've previously modded (and that are hosted on HaloMaps), and this is to be their final version. Cartographer and Conflict are newly modded maps, and I hope that they'll be liked by the community.

Cartographer is a b30 mod, taking place on the inside of the Forerunner structure. There are three seperate areas for different gametypes (similar to The_Library mod that is hosted here):

The first two floors are host to CTF; the second two floors host Slayer, KoTH and Oddball; and the final floor (where you activate the Cartographer) is where Race is held.

Each level has its ups and downs (literally), and in CTF there is even a sneaky way to get down to the Blue base (complete with silenced weapons, a Bubble Shield and Active Camo). HOWEVER, I've placed killboxes below every tier so that players cannot just jump down to whatever level they please, and dominating weapons (Rocket Launcher, Flamethrower, etc.) are in the open (or in bottlenecks) to prevent players from hoarding the weapons.

Conflict is a c10 mod, taking place in the last open area of the swamp. All gametypes (Race excluded) take place here, and if you wander alone, you might find 343 GS wandering around with you. Now I know what you're all thinking: "An AI in an MP map? It won't sync!" Yes, yes, I know. Which is exactly why I made it so that he does not interact with players - just like 2401 PT in the Halo 2 map: Backwash. Yes, you can shoot at 343, but all he does is pause for a little while and go back to circling the map. Weapons are scarce, and there is only a select few: Assault Rifle, Carbine, Shotgun, Flamethrower, Spiker and Sniper Rifle.

As the only long-range weapon in the entire map, the Sniper Rifle is essentially useless. This map revolves around surprise encounters, so it's best to play with default weapons, stock grenades (not unlimited) and no radar. The fog itself makes it hard to see long distances, try and find someone wearing Active Camo in the dense mist.

Now that you've gotten past the SECOND text wall, I would like any postential beta-testers to come forward so I can send the link to the Map Pack via PM to them. This is mainly to see how I did in weapon placements, gameplay issues and for taking (good) pictures ingame to show everyone else. Once I get enough positive reviews, I will submit the Map Pack to be hosted on HaloMaps - providing Dennis is OK with hosting a 175MB .ZIP file :x

I hope you've read this entire post (I know it's very long), and enjoy the Adjutant Map Pack!

I figured as much when you didn't reply to your own thread for over a week :P

I'm just re-uploading the Map Pack to MediaFire - turns out that the older version of Conflict was in it - thanks to my best friend (irl) who noticed a bug with 343 GS. I'll PM the link to the pair of you when the upload's complete, then we can get online to get some good pics flowing.

The package is still uploading to MediaFire (damn my dino computer >.>), so it will take another half hour (according to the site, but I have a feeling it'll be longer) before completion. As soon as it finishes uploading, I will send out the link to all three of you.

Just as a heads-up, however: MediaFire logs the amount of people who download items from me, so if I see more than three downloads, then I'll know that one of you either:

A) screwed up the download (fine, just download it again)

B) corrupted the download somehow (same as above)

or C) gave the Map Pack download link to someone else without my explicit authorization. (big no-no)

So please, try not to screw up the download on the first try, I would hate to assume one of you betrayed my trust and force me to revoke any current and future beta-testing requests from this community.

Take pics if you want, but make sure that they're good before uploading to Xfire - I'll be taking a few of my own with everyone's help - but I'll be directing how I want the shots taken so they appear all action-y and stuff :P

And the upload has finished, I'll be sending the DL link to you shortly.

EDIT: I will be hosting a server to test the maps as a group, as well as gather a few pics per map.

Server Name: Adjutant Map Pack (or something similar if it doesn't fit)

Okay, there are a few bugs still in Map Pack:

AoTCR's Shade turrets have fail sitting animations - don't know how to fix that - I was planning on them being just as a last defesnsive resort...although you can easily use teleporters to get in the other base anyways...they look nice in the positions they're in, though :x

b40-arena's choke point can be an area for easy kills due to the newly-instated fall damage (it causes the player to either have 1-2 bars of health at minimum, or 3-4 bars at maximum if you drop straight down), although I have found a way to bypass such events, many other players will not know how to bypass the fall damage counter. I will be reinstating the old fall damage system in this case.

Cartographer has an odd bug where the Blue Team (in CTF) can jump down with Red Team's flag and score from the Slayer area - although from that point, they will have to either suicide or jump down to yet another level where a killbox awaits them. I'll try to increase the size of the killbox from the CTF area to prevent this...although it doesn't happen frequently - especially if the host is nearby.

Conflict obviously has the issue where the AI (343 GS) doesn't sync on all screens, but as you can't kill him anyways, there's not much to be done about that. In all other cases, it is possible for players to lag out for unknown reasons (possibly turning down the graphics might help).

I'm still looking for testers, so please, come forward. Remember, I'm looking for players who don't have any issues with CMT tagsets (although - as I forgot to mention this - not all weapons/vehicles are CMT's) or SP/MP converted maps.

To Skyhammer, Karima and Slappy, thanks, I will be sending the download link to you shortly. Link up with Jesse, Spartan 279 and Waffles and make a server to test everything out, make sure I haven't missed anything. I can't make a server currently because my internet is down at home >:|

Assassinchief, if you think that, fine. But please do NOT troll this thread, as I have specifically asked any members who dislike SP/MP converted maps and/or CMT tagsets to NOT post here. It's fine that you have you own opinion, yes, but if it's anything negative, please, keep it to yourself.

Actually, I do realize that. You fail to realize that not everyone welcomes your opinions, and that you glorify in trolling other members and their threads. I've asked nicely before, and will not do so again: If you dislike what I've done here, do NOT post here.

Also, I do not admit that I'm better than CMT or anyone else. This is why I'm asking for help in finding and solving the issues in this Map Pack before its release.

Plus, Dennis is the god in these forums :P

Personally, I think your so-called "opinions" are just another way of saying: "This is crap. Don't submit it, don't even think of doing anything productive with it, because everything that I'm seeing here is total bullcrap and I can do totally better than this worthless pile."

So Assassinchief, this is the final time I'm going to be asking this. If you do NOT like what I'm doing, do NOT post here.

If I see a reply from you in this thread again, I will be notifying Dennis about your blatant disregard for a simple request and continued trolling in a thread where it is SPECIFIED for members to NOT troll in.

Then you're an idiot. An opinion is an opinion; you can't change it. Where would I post it? Oh yeah, HERE. Stop crying, learn what's a troll before you rage.
Try not to get frustrated next time, it gives you away. =)
Obviously you don't know the difference between asking someone to leave, and nerdraging like a fool.

I said it's fine that you can have an opinion, but to not be negative about it. You, yourself, are all about negativity, so your opinion is not welcomed here. As I have asked you multiple times to leave this thread, and you have refused, I think it's time for our Moderator to show you the door.

I highly suggest you leave now, before Dennis comes and forcefully removes you from this topic.

By the way, if you still think this is crying/being frustrated, then you, sir, have no idea what happens when I do get frustrated with idiotic fools who only think about themselves - such as yourself.

As the saying goes: "Don't get mad - get even."

As for everyone else that is contributing and beta-testing the Map Pack, I have to say thanks. Thank you for all the time you've put through, thank you for giving me feedback. Most of all, thank you for just Beta-Testing!

For this, I think I'll be adding another map to the Package: Whiteout. Pictures and other stuff are in this thread: http://forum.halomaps.org/index.cfm%3Fpage=topic&topicID=36471

Old thread is old, and I'll be posting some new pictures as well as the Read-Me for it here soon. The download link to it is also down, mainly because I've updated it in the time I posted all the info on it at the time until now.

Enjoy!

Again, you're being ignorant of other people's ages. Stop trying to appear like the adult, because, apparently, you're not.

I'm not asking you to change your opinion, I'm asking that you don't POST them.

As far as my maps go, I haven't seen any of yours on HaloMaps (I'd like to see them if you do, however), so don't whine and complain like a kid when you see something that's actually being worked on, and has made progress - and, quite possibly, even better than yours.

I will admit that the first generation of my maps DID suck, which is why I've decided to improve on a select few. Again, which is why I'm planning to release the Adjutant Map Pack in their honour.

I will not be put out by the likeness of you, Assassinchief, so try harder, you will only fail more.

Why not simply set up a public beta? That way you don't have a lot of people asking if they could beta. Because I would like to beta this too, but it appears you have more than enough people for this.

Takes a 12 year old to know one.

Sadly, you're well misinformed. I am nineteen years of age, and damn well proud of it. My maps may or may not be crap, but that is your own, biased opinion. I like to have many people who do not have any bias towards maps test mine, and obviously you have a hard reaction to anything with CMT tagsets and SP/MP converted maps.

I did say I would like to see any maps made by you, but obviously you've decided to rage more over the fact that I called you out, instead of proving me wrong. You've failed. Again.

Pepzee, you're welcome to test the Map Pack along with the six others. One can't have too many helpers looking for a variety of things! After all, Bungie just didn't have six testers for their Halo saga, and I don't plan on just having six, either.

The main reason behind me not releasing the Map Pack this early is to avoid anybody taking the Map Pack and calling it their own. An unneccesary precaution, yes, but if you take a look at the many others who've worked so hard on their own projects, only to have it ripped and made horribly into something else, you can understand my hesitance in releasing a public beta.

I'll be sending you the download link to the Package shortly.

I did mention that the .ZIP file was that big:

Most pickup tags are out of whack, and the sniper bullets are supposed to bounce off of metal (like Halo 3...although I don't think I achieved that all that well >.>). Anything else I can work on?

And I find it funny that you're still trying so hard to make me rage. My maps suck? Fine, your opinion. You've already told me so in our little Xfire chat when you posed as ODST Nick.

And if my maps fail so hard, why are they netting a seven-point-something or higher? Along with the fact that well over ten thousand people have downloaded them altogether, I would hardly call them failures.

As I've said before, my first-generation maps did suck. I'm admitting to it. THEY SUCKED. That is why I'm remaking them into something better. Don't like it? Quit raging and do something about it. Make my maps better. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT instead of bitching.

As the saying goes: "If you want something done, DO IT YOURSELF."

So, Assassinchief, what will it be? Leave, and try and make my maps better, prove that I'm wrong? Or stay here, and continue to rage over the fact that I'm doing something productive with this Map Pack?

Your choice, either way, you lose.

Alright, a couple of HUD problems with the bubble shield, but nothing major.

I could see good game play on all maps but cartographer. On cartographer I could not identify a teams base, or starting point, it's an interesting concept, but the game play would be hectic.

Interesting model you used for the battle rife, it just seems a little, well, a little old to me. But it still works fine.

Also on the map AoTCR, the doors are open. The doors next to the teleporter exits. It's just open nothing there.

All in all, good maps and good concepts, just a few bugs.

@Pepzee: Perfect, I'll get right on those doors.

As for Cartographer, you must have been playing Slayer at the time. In any case, I would have thought that the flashing red and blue lights would have designated which base you're in - although in Slayer those need to be worked out.

@Assassinchief: Really? You care that much for me? D'aww, thanks so much! [/sarcasm]

Sadly, you're still failing to make me mad, I'm just getting laughs out of this. Some random stranger, over the net, nerdraging so hard at failing to make me mad.

You need to get a life, Assassin. Go out into the real world and stop bitching about somebody making a few maps on a ten-year-old game.
