I'm just wondering.. Does anyone have some updated/better mapping tut's than those posted on TheGhosts site? I can remember trying to learn off of those a few years ago, and it led to a major headache. (Literally) I couldn't figure out what the heck he was trying to do. Needless to say, I gave up. Anyway, I went looking for some tutorials today, not remembering how big of a headache I got years ago, and again, needless to say, after a few hours listening to those same tutorials, I had a huge headache.

The only reason I went on there was because everything else I can find uses Gmax, while I'd rather be using this shiny copy of 3DS I've got sitting here, collecting dust. I was following a headache free tutorial earlier that worked with gmax, but eventually I ran into trouble trying to translate the some stuff from Gmax to 3DS. I'm wondering if anyone has any tutorials not from TheGhost that use 3DS, and that actually make sence.

tl;dr I'm looking for some mapping tutorials that use 3DS which aren't by TheGhost.

I will explain a couple rules that everyone who is modeling for halo ce should know.

1- Bsp's (main level geometry) must be a sealed world, meaning.
If you were to "fill" them with water/compressed air/gas, they would not "leak".
The triangles on the model should not overlap each other.

2- There is nothing physical in this world that consists of only 1 side, everything has volume. You must reflect this with your modeling.

3- All other models need a render model (gbxmodel) and a collision model, the collision must also follow the sealed world rules, but do not need to be the exact same model as the render model.
This tutorial by Martyn Lee Ball/Hunter/Anon2009 explains this quite well.

"making" a map by hguru http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=2299
That will show you how to get a simple map ingame.

Then go to a site like this to learn exactly how to use the modeling tools properly

and

I thought sealed world meant no open edges as opposed to the thing being actually sealed in a box?

Hey Maniac, thanks for those links. That one mapping tutorial seems to actually make sense, rather than just jumping around. Taking a bit of a break now, and I think I'll go get the trial for PaintShop Pro, just so I can figure out what's going on before I try to do what he's doing in paintshop in Photoshop.

I'll post again with some more progress.

Are you questioning how hard I die?

Or just how insanely awsome I am in general?

Alright, me still being awake is a tad rediclous. :P

Not really a coffee person.. Though if I wanted to stay awake, I'd probably grab something else loaded with caffine. (<-- I'm too tired to remember how to spell this correctly)

Unfournatly, I don't want to stay awake. So to anyone reading this, goodnight. :3
