IDK wtf is wrong with my computer if it is a hardware issue, but after like a month, and always after a stupid REQUIRED windows update, (I swear, required updates are the only thing Microsoft got extremely wrong on Win 7) my computer seems to like to say, hmm I don't want to work right anymore and there is no system restore you can do to get me back to normal even though you save 6 about restore points.

It's not a virus either so I am going with maybe hardware issue, or Microsoft found a way to detect if ppl have *ahem*, wink wink nudge nudge... yeah, but it always seems to happen when I go to work in larger programs such as 3ds, sapien, PS, or other software mainly for graphic design. What happens is all of a sudden I get like a 2 minute program lag that basically continues until I give up because I can't ctrl-alt-del or do any one function under a minute. It's not mouse lag though. For instance, I go to scroll over minimize and the mouse is responsive, but I get no hand to click minimize and the button doesn't highlight until like 2 minutes later, then it takes another minute to close.


Anyway, that basically describes my problem, does anyone have any idea what may be causing this or has this happened to anyone else who has win 7? I mean seriously, my computer will work exceptional after a clean install then I put my programs on and it works great for a month maybe a little more then after the next stupid MANDATORY update, it gives me 2 minute lag.

Was that sarcasm or is someone just in denial and wishes they would've bought their computer when they could've gotten the update? Note this OS has worked fine for me for a year before all this crap started happening. But seriously, has anyone had this problem or maybe knows what is causing it?

i also think that windows 7 sux and i would prefer to get a mac but then halo would not work so i renaim faithful to vista.(for now)

Seriously?!?!?! You do know that win 7 IS almost vista right? Almost all it really is is some coding fixes. Sure it has some other small features like throwing the pages against the sides. Nothing much is really changed at all except in the coding and a very few things with the looks like taskbar looks SLIGHTLY different. I mean hell, not much is even changed from XP except for some massive support updates and visual features that if you want you can turn off and make look like XP. You do know all this correct?

Yes. That is true, but it's like infrastructure.
Cuz vista wan't initially compatible with all the stuff that XP was either.
And what is Win7 not compatible with anyway? I have yet to find anything, at least that I normally use, that is not compatible with Win7. Just about everyone in every company (that matters or cares about customer satisfaction) has updated to be compatible with Win7.

It has problems with halo? how? Let me guess. Someone you know went and made the mistake of putting CE in their 64 bit directory

I have never had LESS lag in halo and I have my same build as when I had XP
xp lag = 120 - 160 normal for me on most servers
win7 lag = 67 normal for me on most servers and my internet is downgraded from 2Mb/s to 1 Mb/sec because charter is gay like that.

There is no halo issue.
Crysis runs better for me as well.
Doom 3 runs better for me.
3ds (b4 this issue I am having now) opened in about 5 - 10 seconds.
Sapien opened and closed instantly any map

Are these bunch of other programs known or are they programs made by a couple 18 year olds who don't have the manpower to update to win7 coding?

WINDOWS 7 IS AWESOME!!!!!!!! WHY WOULD YOU DIS WINDOWS 7?!?!?! And it is compatible with most things if not everything. Anyway I have had this problem before but it seemed to fix itself overtime. Also your stupid VISTA isn't compatible with my old windows 98 games whereas WINDOWS 7 IS!!!!!!!! WINDOWS 7 is also way faster making it superior. And it is compatible with all Autodesk products, halo combat evolved. I haven't come across anything that isn't compatible.

Could it be maybe it isn't every mandatory update that is causing this but perhaps just a issue in the last couple updates that they may end up correcting soon? Cuz I never had this issue before but with these last 2 or 3 mandatory updates.

Wait. If not compatibility, what then? I really want to know. Are you grudging that Microsoft didn't let everyone with vista upgrade? Is it because of something with the interface? cuz that hasn't changed any. I really don't see how you have a claim that Windows 7 sucks. We have successfully rebutted all the claims you have given against it basically. I really, truly am interested in knowing why you think Windows 7 sucks because I think you maybe just had a bad instance one or something it sounds like.

Download some more.

Open any window in Windows Explorer. Hit alt, under the tools tab, choose folder options. There's a checkbox in there somewhere that hides known extensions. Uncheck that.

Anyone who complains about Windows 7 compatibility obviously isn't trying hard enough to get it running. Windows 7 has never given me a compatibility issue, not even back in December 09 when it was still in alpha.

yeh, our school went to 7 from vista and it takes so long to turn on and if its your first time logging in it takes about 30mins to log in.

they also freeze a lot.

Well maybe they should read system requirements because my computer starts up in about 40-50 seconds at most and is about two and a half years old. Takes longer to load my MOBO than how long I actually get to see the "windows is starting" screen.

You guys are judging this crap on nothing more than your retarded school IT guys' huge mistake. You are blaming an awesome operating system on a major ID10T error on their part. Of course it's messing up those cheap, POS 7 year old dells at the school. Those things probably didn't even handle XP, which is much less resource demanding, well.

Oh I already reinstalled anyway and I THINK I wound what the problem was too. I didn't clean install it for some odd reason the last time I had to install and it had the old windows files still. IDK how the heck I didn't catch that.

Also, it's more fun to bicker back and forth about it.

Windows 7 for the win, I was an XP fanboy and it took some time to adjust, but it's a pretty good OS. Especially 64 bit, it's way faster in my opinion than my previous XP installation and a friend's Vista desktop. It also crashes less often, and when it does I don't have to delete all my junk because it refuses to start up.

Also, if you're desperate to reinstall, manufacturers sometimes have a built in recovery app, for me it's Acer eRecovery, activated by spamming F5 when the system starts. You might give it a try, perhaps you have something similar.

Actually, I still love XP myself.

First off, I have been using PS on Win7 since I got it a year and a half ago.
Just a heads up, defraging does NOT take forever. I can do it in a matter of minutes. I wish you would stop comparing this to what sounds like computers that aren't fit to run win ME. I swear you are comparing dark age computers with win7 on them or something and making it sound like the OS is the problem when it clearly is not.

Okay lets just agree on 2 things. MACs are better and xbox beats playstation with halo.

Macs are overrated pieces of trash that have a fanbase that can't seem to accept that Macs aren't supreme. Sometimes Macs are good, sometimes PCs are good, though this is a politically correct statement. Personally I think anything made by Apple is an insult to the electronics industry, but that's probably just me.

Where the heck did MAC coin the term "PC" too? What do they think PC means? Cuz I am pretty sure they fall under the category as well according to what a PC is.

Well, I'm not gonna deny mac DOES have some good programs, but is it really worth it? By buying a mac, unless you have a "PC" and a mac, you have just said "I will pay for rediculously overpriced repairs, hardware, etc".

I'd rather have something I can say "well that part ineeds replacement/upgrade, I guess I will go consult newegg and some forums as to what I want to buy to replace it".

I don;t want some company telling me "you have these options and nothing more".

When i said i liked MAC i meant the computer not the OS I've heard that you can put windows on a MAC and if i had the money i would.

When did I say it is perfect? I have NEVER found a perfect program out there and there most likely will never be a perfect anything EVER as far as computer OS, programs, etc go. I merely said it is better than vista which is true because it is basically vista with the fixes so that it will not take so much to run it and so it will not lag programs.

Also, if you will recall you were the one who randomly blurted out "Nah, there was 1 other thing. MAKING WINDOWS 7!.......made it look like you were contributing.......... But then again, I'm running vista. Which doesn't suck like 7 does." What kind of response did you expect to that? There was a reason some people got free upgrades. Because vista had issues and win 7 was mostly vista coding.
