I think it would be cool to be able to play AI trainers.

Basically what I want to do:

Use all 19 original CE maps and make AI versions of them.

I will have smart spartan AI fighting on them and will try my best to simulate online play.

spartan 0-0 has done this with his trainers.

However I want to make better ones than these, and for every single map.

As you see in these two pictures, the AI aren't all that great.






It's cool, but the it isn't that balanced and doesn't feel as authentic as it could.
I want to fix that. (As well as not use the boring h1 tagset).

Create different .actor_varients with different weapons and have a few of them have the ability to get in and use vehicles. This actually isn't that hard, as I've managed to do both (the .actor_varients in a beta of AoTCR, and the AI driving a Spectre in a prototype of Desert_Battleground_V3), so it's going to be easy for you to do as well.

I would help you out more, but I only have a few days off each week to relax and map modding isn't at the top of my list.

Yeah, I was planning on making different actor varients, because it would make the gameplay more interesting, besides, online, people behave differently from other people. There are also different skill levels when playing online. So I will integrate those in too. thanks

On my next off day, however, I'll see if I can slap something together as a beta for you to test and generally have fun with. No promises on how good it'll be - I think I'll just throw it all in a BG map for starters, and you can take it from there.

Well, I have already started battle creek, working on environments first: then ill do my amazing actor and actor_varients. gather weapons and bipeds, reskin vehicles etc.

Yes this is not good when it's a noob who made the map! But if you're doing well you can make a good mod or you play against the AI smarter. Look at the profile of gamma (gamma knowing that is certainly the best in scripting) and you will be seeing what has been crazy to do with them. And that is specified! this is not for resale to play with other players: D

My actors are good for combat and firing distance too. He can beat you etc... just they need more life. Just It can be a more intelligent because sometimes they are idiots xd

WOW, that is exactly what I wanted to do, except that the shader_environments like way better, and the BSP is way better too. I think I will use that as a model for what I want to achieve. thanks gamma.

Alright, I guess I might use maps based off of the original h1 maps too as well as the originals. I'll look into sali creek.

Yeah, strategical AI would make the game feel more like you're playing against smart humans. (usually when people play online, there is very little team strategizing

If they could grab flags, that would be even more interesting, since the side-seater can hop out and grab the flag while the other two drive around in circles. I don't think AI can carry flags, unless directly assigned as a weapon. I might be wrong???

If not, make it some variant of Generator Defense instead, and have AI focused on attacking the enemy generator, and have some defense as well.

That's a cool idea, I might consider that. Yeah, that sounds cool. Yeah, because while I want this to simulate, and maybe even surpass online play, I also want it to be unique.

I doubt it will ever surpass decent online play, but it might be better than playing against nade spammers, aimbotters, and idiots who wave their mouse around in vehicles and somehow get retarded vehicle kills on ill-equipped people after half a minute of fishtailing.

What I'm thinking about doing, is putting elites in too. But with human weapons (not just plasma rifles). And also I'm thinking about giving the AI names, so when you kill one it will say:

***SERVER***: bsoejd9245 was killed

You know how when you get that awesome headshot with that sniper rifle, and the messages popup on the side. That actually adds to the experience. (It gives you a mini-reward, which is really satisfying).

Alright, I'm gonna make some actor and actor_varients from scratch. Nice bloodgulch, with the fog and cool stuff.

It's funny, because your attempting to "insult" me about modelling a high res mesh, which is what all game companies do in-order to create such realistic and professional looking assets.

Your an idiot. Please show more logic in your statements next time as well, because how would I use a tool from a computer which is digital on a physical organic object of which you do not have? Keep trying.

Look up the definition of troll. Which i believe involved following someone on a website just to insult them or throw abuse at them. Which I'm not doing here as I do not know who the OP is.

Fact of the matter is that this is pointless as AI do not sync and are dumb in this old engine. Simple fix is to go to ut3 or something.

The problem with that is that with most maps, it is pretty much impossible to find any servers online. (Let alone finding a specific gametype that you want to play). Also all of them are laggy. How about playing on Bloodgulch, with plenty. of other players, with custom weapons, bipeds, and textures? (It always sucks when there is a server you want to join, and there's 1 person in it).
