Could I take the original Bloodgulch, and modify it slightly, perhaps change some bitmaps, for the ground or the assault rifle and compile it as the original map, it would still sync online with other people's original bloodgulch right?

Yeah, I just tried, it, changed some bitmaps, and it said, "unable to join game" or something like that. I remember in Halo Trial, there was bitmap.map mod where it changed all of the bitmaps.

This only works for Halo PC and Trial where you use HMT to import bitmaps, sadly it does not work for Halo CE.

It is a nuisance to use texmod as you will have to keep on opening texmod every single time if you want to have new textures on stock halo ce maps for Halo Custom Edition. Halo PC on the otherhand, you do not need texmod, as you can just use HMT.
