Just wondering which server company you guys have tried/use for Halo ce?
I've used 'Hypernia' and 'Gameservers' to set up Halo ce servers. I've had minor issues with both, usually with the server crashing, however, that could just be due to Australia's 3rd world quality internet service.
I'll be setting up another Aussie server as soon as Jesse and Enders maps come out and just wanted to ask if anyone here had much experience with different server providers?
ta :)

There was a program that starts with an H (I forget the name) that a lot of the big guys here use.

EDIT: Hamachi.

If you have the resources and the time, I would suggest hosting one yourself. It's a great learning experience for simple networking. You just have to forward some ports to a computer that you have lying around. Then have the dedicated server run.
Look up some tutorials on that.

You are irritating, I'll release nothing

It would be good if someone posted instructions here, maybe? I want to host a server someday, with a spare comp, but I find most tutorials lacking when it comes to port forwarding specifically for Halo CE.

I don't have the resources to host my own server, so I usually pay a server company like Hypernia a monthly fee. I'm thinking u'd need a pretty powerful computer and a super duper internet connection to run ur own server wouldn't u? I mean to b able to handle 16 players with minimal lag.

Hamachi is to basically make your own virtual LAN. Good program, but not what is needed here.
If you want to set a game up with only friends, this makes it very much less laggy and makes me I know, but has no connectivity outside the people within the LAN connection.

Not necessarily. Most web servers run minimal hardware (i.e. Intel Atom, AMD Durion, single socket processors, low memory, etc.), apart from networking. Generally dedicated web servers would be hooked up to an already dense network.

If you were to want to create a server, you should really only consider how powerful your router and connection is. I had run an old Celeron Tualatin-256 OC'd to 2ghz running Windows 2000 as a dedicated server for Halo for quite a while until the processor went up in smoke and damaged the motherboard. I linked it directly to my router and it had perfectly fine connection and nobody complained about lag.

Particular sites, such as http://www.geeks.com/products.asp?cat=SVR have incredibly cheap rack/tower servers running some legacy hardware, but you could always use whatever computer is laying around.
