ok, i have 3ds max. now, im just wondering on how to make a map.... but what im really curious about is.....how do i know how big of a map i need to make while in 3ds? wont i need some type of reference like a little master chief so i know big i want my map exactly?????
im pretty familiar with this map making but its been so loong that i need a refresher. so could you guys post what i need in order to make and play a map?

Yeah, just follow along the HEK tutorial and everything should be fine. When I was learning map-making, I would also follow along various video tutorials by people like HaloGuru and Firedragon.

I always make a box that's 70 units high, 30 wide and 20 long. Those are the [approximate] values of the chief. Remember 10 units is about 1 foot in-game.

I usually do 70 x 40 x 40, just for ease and simplification.
