I have been able to play Halo 2 Vista on my Windows 7 OS and it worked fine last time I played it a few months ago. However, it just recently stopped working and everytime I try to launch it I get a "Halo 2 for Windows Vista has stopped working" error before the window even comes up. The game just flat out refuses to run, I tried compatibility mode and running as administrater but that wouldnt work. This problem happened really out of the blue and I dont know what I should do to fix it.

-Uninstall the game. -OPTIONAL STEP - Download and run CCleaner to remove any excess junk/settings: http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/slim -Install the game. -After installing the game and verifying the serial number go to the games installation directory and set startup.exe and halo2.exe to run as Administrator (Properties > Compatibility). This step helped me stop the profile download and updates stop repeating indefinitely on Win7.

@Kills Alone I tried what you suggested but I still get the error that "Halo 2 has stopped working" as soon as it tries to launch. Edited by thegunner3 on Dec 29, 2010 at 10:49 AM
