Hey everyone let me give you all something to start a flame war about here.

I just recently started a new website project with some friends to try and help the community out.
The site is called Halo Custom Edition Map Source.

The goal for this project initially was to have something like Halomaps, but with quality control. We realized, "hey we will get flamed so bad if we do this that there will be no chance anyone will ever join the site or use it". That is why we have now changed our goal. Our new idea is to have our site mainly be a guide for anyone looking for a map that is often played on servers. We want to help regular users find the most popular or even most well built maps out there and try and promote them. Also, to not detract from Halomaps, we decided that we would not upload other's maps to our site. That would be completely weak, backstabbing, plain awful, and be a detriment to Halomaps if we were to succeed.

Another project of ours is going to be to try and rebuild the tutorial knowledge bank. Before, it had been the ghosts site, but so many links have now either been removed or not updated on the site. We want to try and build our own knowledge bank that will again hold at least one tutorial for every aspect of halo mapping.

We have had complaints "hey this will deter other mappers from trying to map because they think they aren't worthy enough"! My argument, I never whined when I started. If you are starting out, well no crap you aren't worthy enough, unless you have already done similar modding for other games. I wasn't born with the knowledge to build, troubleshoot, and work on computers. If we uploaded every person's map then we WOULD become another Halomaps. Also since Halomaps.org is still here, they always have a place to discuss with a larger crowd, and get their maps uploaded even if they don't make the HCEMS cut.

We have many other plans for the site and I believe that to make this site any decent and have it objective, we may need some help. We are looking for mappers, massive halo enthusiasts, just people who know the game, and know what makes a map popular on the servers and why. We would like to get about 7 - 11 moderators on the site with these qualities so if you are interested in helping us with this list basically, please join the site and contact us. We really do want this to be something that will help all halo communities and give mappers another source of organized information.

If you have anything you want to suggest to help us make it so we can find what maps are played most often easier than simply going on the different versions and just checking, please suggest it, because atm, that is all we can really think to do is to monitor the servers.

I couldn't tell what the life rpg was, because there was no screenshot(s).

Yeah, those will get up soon as I have the chance. That's why there really haven't been updates to the site. Right now I have 3 programs due in 5 days since it is the end of the semester and I have zero time between those and studying. I am limiting my free time to only when I am about to go insane with work so the site probably won't get much of an update til the holiday season, as far as school goes, actually starts. My finals are next week so after that i will try and get as much as I can done before winter camping and snowboarding starts.

Eh, the template is disgusting. Make sure you choose a nice template because I personally wouldn't use an ugly website.

Well, we need to get a new background, and overall template, but at least IMO, we need to get rid of a few of those little extras in the side panel that no one will ever use and we need the map list to actually say something like "Frequently Played Map Guide" or something of the sort.

Oh and btw, does anyone have a clue as to which zanzibar that is that is played? I think I have gone through 6 versions and still not found the correct one. Either I am just getting the wrong one or I can't join for some reason.

yea thats the only issue cause when i downloaded it, it wasnt what i was expecting, it was just a Tutorial map.
