I have successfully made a volcanic eruption-like device machine, which spews multiple projectiles, and it works fine, and I wrote the script to fire it off, and that works fine.
Next, I would like to fire a single projectile, with a device machine . . . but - its not working. The single projectile is repeatedly fired (unwanted), and due to its effects, causes uber-lag. Regardless how small the fraction is on duration bounds under events in the effect tag (which fires the projectile) - and regardless how short the power transition time is on the device machine tag (which fires the effect tag).
so - I am exhausted from multiple attempts to use a device machine, with an effect tag to fire a single projectile - via script - it always fires multiple projectiles instead of one. Any suggestions? I could use a weapon in the effect tag, and set the weapons fire rate - but how do I get the weapon to fire?
Suggestions? Different methods? Examples?

ooooh - that might work. Thanks. I will need to play with the effect tag to get the right - or shorter duration of fire. (shorter or longer? - I think longer, and cause of the problem.)
Right now I have the duration bounds set to 0.01 to 0.01 - and it still fires multiple projectiles, even though there is only one projectile in the parts section of the tag
skip fraction 0, delay 0 to 0, duration 0.01 to 0.01 - I think I might have had it looped, I will check.

You're gonna have to set it to something higher than 0.01. Try something like 10 or 20 just to see how that goes.

Yes - since I had it looped, I changed it to 7 to 10, and it works. Dunno what I was thinking by 0.01 - 3:am editing I suppose.
The effect now works, thanks.
