What would you add to the Mark VII armour with the exception of upgrading everything that has been on the past armours if you were to design it? :P
Me: Music Player, Thermal Imaging, ?portable weapon locker?, portable TV FTW, virtual Halo CE game installed :P

The helmet gets a suit-powered fire-emitter always on. And the helmet should look like recon.

Dr. Halsey's journal had some info on a mark7 armor concept. But let see should have armor abilities, possiby weapons attached to the armor, integrated hud, more agile, and such

2 of those effects are found in the Mark FIVE already.
Now for my more serious suggestion: Increased shield recharging speed, only needs to wait 5 seconds to recharge. 30% more shielding strength. Lighter. Improved coordination with body movements. More agile, faster, higher jumps and stronger melees.

An MP3 integrated into the helmet? Listening to music helps you fight. Thermal display. Radar replaces a motion tracker, most enemies will always show up. Also shows walls. Shield flare- slowly drains your shields, you will light up like a H3 flare while the shields are draining. Shield flashbang- similar to flare except all your remaining shields instantly disable to emit a flashbang effect which is stronger the more shielding you had left. Cloak generator that has infinite duration, but drops your shields to 20% strength (one good hit followed by a headshot from most weapons would kill). Self-destruct detonation- instantly turns the user into an exploding nuke.

Magnets. You can glide on metal, climb metal walls, increase the velocity of your fists or bullets, repel vehicles.

To prevent those situations where you're trapped to a metallic nuke or the hull of a cruiser rigged to blow and wondering why you got those always-on magnets. So is any of this gonna be made in-game or are you just thinking of ideas? If it's going in-game, I'd like more armour when the shields fail. Also, maybe layered shielding. As in, if any source of EMP damage would hit you, rather than your entire shield going down, it only goes to down to the nearest half (only down). Maybe also when a shield goes down from any bullet-firing weapons, any "overkill" damage is neglected instead of passed on to the layer inside. Such as if you get shot by a sniper, the damage would be enough to collapse 100% of your shields and deal you extra damage. With this new mechanic, it would only take off half your shields and deal you no health damage. The main problem is that it would be impossible to kill someone with less than 3 shots from any bullet weapon, even sniper headshots and point-blank shotguns. Explosives would be unaffected.

How about built in gauntlets so a spartan would always have an energy sword for close combat, also the one gauntlet could use a shield like the ones the jackals use, only stronger.

No, I actually meant refrigerator magnets . Of course electromagnets, because they're way stronger and can be turned on and off. I don't see how anything else beats this.

How bout a temporary time thingy add-on where you can either slow down time or stop time temporarily but "energy" goes faster when you stop time? That would be nice :) Edited by Skyancez3o4 on Nov 30, 2010 at 08:27 PM

You know, to actually be sensible, the Mark VII will probably have to be either similar or slightly heavier than the Mark VI, because it's just stupid if it's stronger in every way.

I'm fairly certain I remember reading in one of the books that the armor already has magnets in it, at least in the boots, so that Spartans can walk on the outside of ships in zero gravity.
