I have already known that my choices are limited when using the halo game engine when I join the community but I will move onward with it anyway. Trial and error and some threads have shown me enough to finally create the IDKtech Laboratories map but I need to know the limit of the models and characters. Please tell me these limits below in the same format. Recommended poly level for characters, vehicles etc.: how about squares: Can rigging be as complicated as blender's famous and most useful rig http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JEiJJ1nMI4k:

While i have never done a biped rig the process is fairly simple. Add a skin to a model with the correct bones and then skin it accordingly. Once skinned check the model to see if it moves right for animation. Once that's out of the way you can Export it, but when you do make sure you export it as a Rigged Model (that's if your using Gmax or 3DSmax. I,am not sure as how it would be in blender.) Here is a simple Rigging tutorial for 3DS max (Same method can be done in Gmax). http://halo2.filefront.com/file/Jahrains_Character_Rigging_Tutorial;57522

I have known of the process of rigging as i have studied the topic some time a ago but the main question is: Is halo able to sustain a complex rig with about 270 bones, 9 curves, 17 lattices, 49 empties and IK and FK controls(I really doubt that halo has FK) ? That rig is very complicated and flexible. It will be useful in cut scenes and animations I will be doing.
Edit Thanks for that dennis.Too bad it didn't explain anything about rigging Edited by cyboryxmen on Nov 14, 2010 at 09:15 PM Edited by cyboryxmen on Nov 14, 2010 at 09:15 PM

270 bones? No, 64 is the max I'm pretty sure... I asked this recently and people were wondering what I'd need that many for... And I don't know what the others are (except for IK), but I don't think Halo will take them.... IK yes, FK not sure.

So much for that. I was even planning to do animations using the game engine. On-the-fly game engine renders are better than 1 hour of waiting for one second renders at the expense of graphics of course. Oh well, people appreciates the awesome looking graphics animation anyway and I don't blame them. However, the old school ones are still awesome and halo's graphics are not that old looking.
