Well while working on H2SPT,I realized I can't get Tartarus to use his hammer properly.

What I mean exactly,well tartarus cant swing his hammer as there's no preset slot in halo ce for this type of animation.

He has to use the hammer as a regular weapon and not as a melee weapon like in halo 2,the reason being halo 2 you can add a .effect tag to a melee animation but in halo ce all you can do is add a damage effect which would be missing alot of things,ieg gravity ripple,etc.


So while working on tartarus I cant seem to figure out a way to make him swing his hammer unless he used is like the elite use's the sword but that we still leave the ^above problem.


tis tis makes me hate this engine more and more :/

I didn't want to post this image I wanted everyone to still believe I failed.But oh well.

Have the gravity hammer shoot a projectile which detonates instantly and has all the effects that the gravity hammer does. Since Tartersauce (should) have a shield, the projectile will not harm him. The firing animation for the gravity hammer would look like the melee.

If tartersauce doesn't have a shield, set up scripts which makes him impervious to damage everytime he 'shoots' the hammer.

I think I may have lost you everything "every detail" is down to the mark,I just cant figure out a way to make him swing his hammer there's no way to assign him an animation to swing it.

The only way to overcome the above is^

is that I make it like the sword in which those respects he would just swing it and you get hurt,no cool effects.

Me posting is hoping that somone left in the community might suggest a working solution at this rate though maybe not.

I agree with AGLion. It doesn't solve your problem, however I think it's the closest you will get to the actual thing. I don't believe anyone in the community is working on the grav hammer though.

If AGLions idea doesn't work the only other way would be the energy sword(I think). Yes it would be crappy and you would miss the cool effects, but I think that is the only other option.
Sorry I was not of much help, I just don't think there is any other way.

I am aware of these methods thats how the hammer is set up creates a projectile with the correct effects etc,the problem is he just holds his hammer still,AGlion is misunderstanding something,theres no default 3rd person animation I can assign in the animation graph which will swing the hammer,the only closest idea is like you mentioned the sword,but thats terrible.

Im hoping theres a way script wise you can see if a unit is firing his weapon or checking to see if a certain animation is playing ect,maybe then I can pull of something.

Oh, I see what you are saying now. Hmm. Well I have one idea. lets say you do AGLions idea. But you have a reload animation right after he 'fires' his grav hammer. The reload animation would have to be right after he fires his weapon. The reload animation would have to look like a hammer swing.

That is a tricky and weird idea that will probably not work, however it's worth giving a shot.

As for the scripting idea I'm sure there is something out there... somewhere....


If none of that works give Tartarus a plasma rifle and call it done. It's not worth that much work.

See all the details are down I even made new 3D bitmaps for the blast_radius_plasma and tartarus shield.

But see he doesnt swing his hammer and it's terrible Im real big on details kinda person so this is really driving me crazy.

Around 2 min in he will 'shoot' his hammer. Maybe you could do something like that too.

Pic looks awesome. Can't wait to see him charging at me in-game.

Or you could just not be a n00b at using HEK and check the "Does not hurt owner" box in the damage properties o_O

Well then it would be much of the same he would just not move his hammer,not really what im going for,guess theres no way around it.


Hmmm might just move on from this community and game engine.If haloce stops something simple like that then damn!

No wonder everyone is gone
