Every time I open a map in sapien its all gray and black. It doesn't have my skins on t at all can anyone help me or at least tell me what my problem is.

I think it is because the textures were not linked to the map during compilation. Try putting the textures in the textures folder of the map's directory. Recompile tell me what happens.

No, its still gray and black, but I dont thin my map directory is set up coorrectly, I don have all the bitmaps and shaders. All it has is: lonewolf.scenario, lonewolf.scenario_structure_bsp, lonewolf.bitmap, and lonewolfskin( the skin I used for the model in gmax).

You need to make shaders and add a sky and run lightmaps/radiosity.

Stupid me... This is in the modeling process when you are making the bsp sometimes it gets past the .jms converter

yes thats right. make sure you actually have a lightmap the run radiosity .
radiosity_detail 0 radiosity save

Alright then how do i make shaders, i never made a map before and and no tutorial ive seen so far has shown me how.

Guerilla, file/new/shader_environment in the basemap slot, add the .bitmap that you want to use save, make sure the name of the shader is exactly the same as the name of the material in max/gmax.
search the files part of this site for "making a map" by hguru/wkhguru/haloguru.

I just found these in my tags folder outside my map folder mtl #.shader_environment and material #.shader_model would they be the shaders or no

those are the shaders that tool made for you, because you never made your own. you can use them, but you need to add the bitmaps . make sure you are using shader_environment fro bsp and shader_model for any scenery/weapon/vehicle/biped.

tool isnt noticing the shaders in their folder or the bitmaps
