I need tips on how to model halo ce maps, I can model outdoors maps, a little, but I want to make indoor maps. So can anyone give me tips on how to do that. Like how do I make those places that doors fit into, or other things. BTW, how long does it take to model a good map, I only take a day?

when your making a map from scratch, take as long as you have to.don't rush it just take in as much as you can about what the gameplay will be like once its finished and what you can do to make people want to play it.go through all the ideas you have for it before releasing it.at whatever level your at just do your best...cause its your name's beside it when its released. to make the gaps for doors is the same as windows etc,try it out fire up your 3d modeling programe then make a box any size convert to editable poly then click on the polygon setting, click ignore back facing, click on 1 side of the box hold the ctrl key down and click on the opposite side of the box.now click on inset and move your mouse until the inset part is the size of gap you want, click on select and uniform scale use the pointers to move the height and width of the gap,if you want to move it closer to the ground click on the select and move icon and move it.finally click on bridge and you have your gap.thats just a basic square shape but you can add shape to the edges as well.just experiment with it. Use reference models to perfectly shape your BSP. If you want to make a doorway that is a warthog's-width, then import a warthog .gbxmodel with an importer and reference based off of that. Same way if you want to model anything really, import a cyborg .gbxmodel and make your bsp perfectly to scale.
If you're making a BSP, remember that a majority of objects can be made into scenery to save rendering times in Sapien. If you'll notice in the classic 'tutorial' example, there are only the simple 2 bases and the ground floor. Trees and other scenery are added in sapien. If you perhaps wanted to make an indoor map, the same concepts apply. If you want to add a cover in a particular spot, do it in Sapien.

Thanks, I got a indoor map modled, but I want it to be solo but this part is too small, how can I setup teleporters to teleport me to a different bsp, I know how to set them up for the same bsp, but I want to know how to do it for seperate bsp's, like you start in my indoor map and kill all of the covenant in it, and then teleport to an outside bsp. How do I do this? Also I only know how to setup MULTIPLAYER teleporters, so teach me how to setup singleplayer tele's, PLEASE!, THANKYOU!
EDIT: The map is too dark, I have clear afternoon, but light wont come in through the area's I put sky at. How do I put in lights through 3ds max to make the inside not to dark? Edited by Halocombatevolved on Oct 30, 2010 at 09:55 PM
