16GB RAM???
Running XP???

Dude, get Windows 7.

You seem to have really good graphics, check to see if there are correct drivers installed.

Wow, yeah if it's 1GB, then you need a new computer or upgrade your stuff.

To better help out, could you please:

1. Go to Start>Run
2. Type "dxdiag" and hit ok (without quotes)
3. If windows prompts you about connecting to the internet for system info, just say no
4. Let the progress bar in the bottom left finish
5. Go to the "DirectX Files" tab
6. There is an area for notes at the bottom, if there are any problems found, post them back here. If it reads "No problems found", try this:
7. Go to the "Display" tab and check the same notes area for problems and post them (if any)

i had already uninstalled the video driver so i got this:

The system is using the generic video driver. Please install video driver provided by the hardware manufacturer.
To test DirectDraw functionality, click the "Test DirectDraw" button above.
Direct3D functionality not available. You should verify that the driver is a final version from the hardware manufacturer.

i gotta restart now cause i just reinstalled them.

Check all the same areas after restart and let me know what shows up :)

Also, are you actively testing Halo while making all these changes? The Radeon Xpress 1150 in my laptop was blue screening all the time in Unreal Tournament 2004, then I uninstalled my drivers and ran into some "life" stuff, so I just bypassed trouble and installed the same drivers again. And I haven't had any blue screening in about a year.

ok i got this in dxdiag:

The file ati2dvag.dll is not digitally signed, which means that it has not been tested by Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL). You may be able to get a WHQL logo'd driver from the hardware manufacturer.

ok i just tested halo and it works thanks.

edit: added something

So it's working on the same reinstalled drivers? If so, it was either driver corruption or somehow the DXT texture format switch may have been off in the catalyst control center.

i reset the defaults in catalyst when i had the problem and that didn't fix it so it must have been driver corruption. i did get a virus somewhere around the time this started happening so that might have been the cause. i got rid of the virus already so i should be ok.

Aye, some viruses can be nasty enough to affect your display, and some are brutal enough to target it. Anyway, glad you got it worked out.

omg the problem came back. i redid what fixed it before and it didn't work. this is what was in the dxdiag under display: The file ati2dvag.dll is not digitally signed, which means that it has not been tested by Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL). You may be able to get a WHQL logo'd driver from the hardware manufacturer.

i don't know whats wrong this time.
