He means that the helmet can have shield properties, ie it must be depleted before allowing head damage. Like the jackal's sheild 'must' be gone before you can shoot its hand. But the shield covers the head. I think you can simply make the helmet-shield not recharge. E: Yeah, you can. Edited by SlappyThePirate on Aug 31, 2010 at 11:01 AM I'll try that when I look into their tags again. I know it's in the collision, but I don't know if you can just end energy shielding to the head region. When the Brutes' shields recharge, the full body shields cover their heads and their entire body. It's possible. Jackals have shields, but not on their whole body. Just make the recharge time/rate really slow. So it's like a jackal shield shaped and shadered like a helmet, on the head.

just apply the shields to the "armor" region in the collision model, in which only the armor will receive protection of the shield. Then have it be destroyed through the flags once shield runs out.

Then have it be destroyed through the flags once shield runs out. Easier said than done. I rather not mess with it right now unless I have to. The idea of having the heading not covered by a shield would relate more to what we've seen in-game, but in a way it puts more urgency to defeat the Brutes before their slow shields recharge. The Brutes have a 10 second stun time and a 10 second recharge time.

Quote: --- Original message by: IcePhoenix so... can you have energy shields along with jackal shields? No. Unless you convert the shield to a weapon, there is no way to have a full body shield and a jackal shield to where one can be depleted and the other can't.

and if you convert the shield to a weapon? Edited by IcePhoenix on Sep 2, 2010 at 04:30 AM I won't use that method with the Brutes. They're fine the way they are enough for me to do the AI. If you guys want to make advanced material shield functions and stuff, be my guest.

Quote: --- Original message by: IcePhoenix k was just asking. btw I find it's a lot harder than obvious to kill a group of berserking brutes instead of one. so you make the group berserk when one goes down. ok maybe not THAT early. The berserking will be personal and on a lone survivor basis. That gives equal opportunity for the Brutes to display their many abilities.
