I was wondering, A) Can i modify vehicle stats (weapon projectiles etc) or are they locked/protected? plan to tweak as many as possible for a space battle map. My intention is to change the projectiles of the Longsword Alt Fire to spawn several small drones (like sentinels, or if i can, make them mini-longswords) The cooldown would be bigger on ALT fire, and i want to have script that terminates the drones after a set time. Drones would be specific to only one team (plan is a Cov VS Human, drones side with humans always)

B) if i can modify other vehicles, why has nobody fixed the kestrel? and can i give extra button functions (similar to the heavy tank, having Shift and Q with vehicular functions) I'd like to have Shift as a thruster on longswords maybe, or afterburners on jets, for players who need to get from A to B in a hurry, and don't need to steer.

Chances are non of this will even work, but hey, i think a few of the vehicles need a good tweaking (Especially the UP Covenant vehicles =/ )

thanks for the reply, so why has nobody fixed the Kestrel? i know there are a few variants of some of the main air vehicles (LS, Peli, Jet and Phantom mainly), so can i just modify my own?

And the aim of having drones was to make the a longsword variant to be less Uber combat orientated and more powerful for support for light ships and ground troops. Any suggestions as to how i can still do that?

i'd still like to have deployable floating space mines (nukes that don't go anywhere) so they can set up a makeshift defense grid (mines will only last a set amount of time too, a few mins maybe. Hoping to make them like plasma grenades, so they stick and then explode)

the primary weapn of the longsword in most maps is not a machine gun; rather, it is some cannon....or missile launchers.
indeed, you would do well to weaken these cannons, and the nuke should be replaced with some sort of slow homing missile that reloads slowly.

another thing, the reason why the kestrel sinks to the ground is due to a bad collision model, and why no one has fixed it (and uploaded it)? Simply because they either do not know how to use 3D software, or that they are simply unwilling to share their fix.

Hell, now that I think of it, you could probably make some covvy ship that "deploys" (basically, fires) kamikaze banshees.
Sentinels that launch bombs! Like in the Matrix.

To make the Longsword support-oriented instead of a noobfest:

Replace the main cannon which typically fires 102mm rockets at ridiculous rates with slower, less deadly rockets that have slight homing, similar to those used by the Pelican. Also, limit said projectiles to a clip that reloads. Make the secondary weapon a series of bombs: simply find a bomb projectile, and set the clip size to like 20 with a long reload. I did this on a Banshee one time: replaced the fuel rod with plasma grenades. It dropped 2 nades about every second for a nice strafing run, then reloaded in 8 seconds. Just make sure you give those bombs a nice drop, and a medium AOE, and tell them when to go off (i.e. detonate on contact).

i thought about using kamakazee sentinels instead of nukes, but i wanted them to be AI piloted (use a short range laser blast with a nuke-size explosion)

I'll just make a homing nuke that looks like a sentinel, maybe with some kind of laser or plasma blast to look more forerunner tech.

Also, i noticed some vehicles (like the spectre in Extinction) have alternate function buttons in seats other than the gunner. this gave me the idea of having seperate seats for special functions (like a shield or something) so i'm starting a new post for ideas for that
