all i know is editing and how to get a bsp ingame and make it. i dont even know how to get collisions and regular objects ingame. ive never tried skinning with 3ds or gmax and im not good at it sooo....

Just get some tutorials! I learnt everything I know from tutorials (halo wise that is)! Oh and as for skinning, start off by just using the original textures. Then as you get used to 3ds max/gmax you can try fully creating a skin by yourself! I might post a Pic or 2 of a 3d model I had to do for school! But skinning isnt hard, its just time consuming!

Or even learn by exploring options in 3ds max or Gmax. It's slow, but way more fun than looking at a tutorial for an hour trying to understand the concepts. If you're confused with things, join a forum and ask for help there. Purposely show off your work on those forums so that people can give you tips and criticism.

That's basically how I learned everything I know about the computer.

Uh, this is a forum! But I know what you mean, I learnt from people in the forums and from tutorials. I also made alot of fail maps, or maps that just plain sucked! But the more you do it the better you get.

lol wow. i just came from the "halo 3 pelican request" thread to this. and man is it hostile in there. yea i learned most of what i know from tutorials and these forums. the rest i learned from looking through the options like AGLion said, and from my many mistakes. found out i don't leave till saturday so i got one more day.

i leave the protection and release options up to deathraider and assassin, since this is mostly their content. i personally am against protection, but i see the purpose. anyway, i learned how to mod the regular by asking questions on a fourm and messing around with values ect. Gurella and sapien and tool are a lot more, uhh, restricted, and tend to be more unfriendly with messing around. also the whole concept of having to recompile EVERY TIME, is just too time consuming (eschaton autosaves every change, and you only have to rebuild when importing a tag, or bsp replacing)
but whatever yeah tuts seem the way to go for CE. I have already made a few and made a mediocre bsp

btw the bipeds are all the bipeds in halo, sept for flood captain. even cortana's there. so yeah should i release the bipeds here?

Hmmm. Ill be brutaly honest, for a first map its ok. But I wouldnt upload because its still not as good as it could be. Also, did you get the textures in it? I would suggest that you try making a couple more maps, to get the feel for it then maybe upload one! Anyway, your learning quickly!

For the textures, it looks like its just blank... so ill tell you a way to find out. Open guerilla and open your bsp. Scroll down to where it says materials. You will notice that it has a drop down box and a button that says open. First off, click open. This will open the shader for your texture. In the shader, scroll down to where it says diffuse properties. This is the section that tells the shader which bitmap to work for. Anyway if its blank, look for base map. on that line there are 2 buttons, the '...' button and the 'open' button. Click '...' and search for the bitmap you were going to use. Repeat the last process for the other shaders. Just go to your bsp and go 1 by 1 through the drop down box and fix up all he shaders!

I know this isnt all that descriptive, you may need to check shader tut, but im in a hurry! Anyway, good work for a first go!

lol duhh. im not a noob at modding u no. im just new to CE. and no i ADDED HUDS to all the bipeds (elite,jackals,grunts,enginner, marines, sentinels, cortana, keyes) yeah all the bipeds in the standard halo.

Theres no interior on the model we have, might have been a special object. But for the door, he might be talking about the way the chief got onto the ship in halo 2.

omg you don't know how long it has takin me to get this pc up and running. first i had to repair it so i can hack it and change my account password. the i had to download HEK and gmax lol. i have the models but most of them are in .jms form so i really need HEK.

Thats one way to do it. But I used to have a jms importer and exporter. Anyway, hows that model coming?
