Hey, I was working on some AI, and I'm having some troubles getting marines to drive tanks. If I swap the named vehicles in the scenario for wraiths or ghosts the marines drive and shoot just fine, however when said vehicles are tanks they just sit in the tank, look around, and shoot enemies off and on without actually moving. I would greatly appreciate any insight as to just why this is happening. I have th AI driver enabled on the vehi tag, I copied the ai values from teh wraith to the tank with no luck. Enabled and disabled sidestepping, copied parameters, no luck. The only way that the AI would move is if the ai driver flying flag was checked, and that won't do for what I need to do, I need to be able to make the tanks follow command lists triggered from scripts. Any help would be greatly appreciated. A working example, and/or screenies of the vehicle tag and any associated AI tags would be extremely useful.

It's just either the scorpions or the AI's configuration. Gamma is probebly right, he did more work on AI's than me. I only pushed it to the limit by making one fly a pelican. (It ended up more like crashing into me while we where on the same team trough XD)

Reread the OP. Why'd you copy from the wraith? ._. If I'm not mistaken, the wraith is set to alien scout. Thus, it'd use different parameters than a scorpion.

from my experience marines ai have had the most trouble driving scorpions, because enven when you set a command list they tend to drive randomly into walls, i don't think ai are meant to drive scorpions.

lol sorry, what i meant was they tend to drive other vehicles better when compared to the scorpoin, at least from my experience with ai driving vehicles.

Pasting my post from another thread:

Quote: Before you do anything, set the "ai driver can-sidestep" flag. This will enable them to move the vehicle.

In the vehicle tag, adjust the sideslip distance to 4; the destination radius to 6; the avoidance radius (so they don't run into everything) to 1; the pathfinding radius to whatever you want, I usually set mine to 10; and the charge repeat timeout to 1. When you set up the command list, do a set radius command first; the smaller the radius, the closer they will get to the point before going to the next point. I usually set mine anywhere from 3.00 to 8.00, depending on how closely I want them to follow a path. Set the points you want them to go to, and do the command list like you normally would. Bear in mind that they will not drive to points directly behind them.

The values I gave here can be adjusted - they aren't set in stone.

The scorpion's bigger than the ghost, or whatever. You have to tweak the ai stuff in the vehicle tag. I've gotten cyborgs to drive tanks before, you just need them to be away from walls.
