How would you go about learning more about game design?

you could always look around on google for tutorials on various things like 3d modeling and photoshop, you could see if any local colleges in your area offer something like a day class for basic game design stuff, or you could join a forum dedicated to more than just halo. perhaps an unreal engine forum.
if youre really dedicated you could go to college for it too i suppose.

If your really dedicated and want to learn more, keep practicing and toying with things on your own. I'd go and learn unreal or something though, since thats a more recent engine that alot of developers use.

when i first started, i started with DX studio, not very great graphically wise but you get to learn the concepts. now ive moved onto unity 3D, and eventually plan on going toward unreal.

Unreal is noob friendly, u might as well just start and work up with it yourself. It's not that hard, just lighting composition in that game is stupid as help

to me unreal is anything but noob friendly. all the tuts lack something, wether it says "this tut wont cover scripting" or something like that... if anyone wants to point me to something that covers everything from point a to point b in a single tutorial (say, a basic FPS tutorial) id be thankful.
