does anyone know if there's a custom dialouge sound tutorial? I've searched over and over again but can't find one

For referencing a .dialog tag, or for compiling every .sound and referencing those in a .dialog tag which then gets referenced in the .biped tag?

All you do is compile the tag, then make a new .dialog tag, if you hold your mouse over the fields, it tells you what all of them are for. Just reference your corresponding sounds in there, also there's at least 2 sound compilation tutorials I know of, and probably some more I don't know about.

the compiling is what gets me, because I'm trying to compile windows media audio files and when I do tool says it can't read them so I don't know if I'm supposed to be using a different recording program or what

Download audacity. Its a free sound manipulating and recording program. You can record your voice and even mess with the sound in audacity and when you have what please you, export as a .wav

For making custom dialog? There's not much to it. It's just, open the .dialog tag, look at all the sounds needed, obtain the sounds needed, compile them, and reference them. If you're referring to the actual sound compiling, there are plenty of tutorials on Halomaps for that.

this is why

07.17.10 20:35:39 ERROR sound\dialouge\delicon20\d20-pain_minor: speech must be mono, 22kHz. (ask matt if you didn't do this by accident)

This is why we need more tutorials. For the people that can't figure the meanings of simple errors.

No, not really. Audacity is the best free one out there.
