Can Gmax 12 still be downloaded or no? I don't have any money for 3ds Max and my trial for it expired anyways. Please help.

Yes it can. I just googled it. Turbosquid doesn't offer full support for it, but it still runs its registry. You need to have an email to register it with.

This is a common problem. The gmax installer uses the same installer as FRAPS does. When you installed frapps it left the installation files and setup program in your \Temp folder so that when you run the Gmax install it runs the fraps installer instead of extracting the gmax setup program.

You need to delete all the files in your \temp folder. Where the temp folder is located depends on your operating system. to find your temp dierctory open a command prompt and type %temp% then enter. it will show an error then display the actual directory.

Are you RUNNING or SAVING the installer from turbosquid? I always save executables. Try saving if you have not done that already.

I have another problem. I made a map in Gmax but I don't know how to use Blitzkreig to convert it to a scenario so I can open it in Guerilla. Can anyone help me out?

If you are using gmax you need to export with bluestreak instead of blitzkrieg.

Hi, about that, after a while of using the Gmax, i get a bluescreen problem and my computer restarts, also, i think i'm not able to save my progress, any idea of why would this happen??

ive never seen anything like that happen with gmax,maybe reinstall

how do i change the select and move tool so its the red, green, and blue arrows? right now its orange and ts really irritating that i cant move stuff properly. please help.

if i uninstall gmax, will i lose all the stuff i made?

copy everything you made and put it in a backup folder. Of course, if you're going to get 3ds max instead, you'll want to convert your models from the .gmax format to something else, as 3ds can't open .gmax files.

another problem is whenever i use the pan tool or rotate or pretty much any tool, that is some type of move, everything just goes invisible except like the edged faces and outline. when i stop moving it becomes visible again. Its really annoying and hard to work with. Gmax is also laggy now for some reason. REALLY laggy...

it does that for me aswell i think it's normal but it doesn't cause me any problems,it's not as if your trying to add something to your model when that happens so it's all good.

also you mention laggy there....what sort of ram have you in your pc nowadays you should have at least 2-4gb.having said that it could be your video card,if none of them 2 are the problem then check what your allowing through your firewall as a precaution.

This is "adaptive degregation ", if you can turn it off in gmax then it will be in the view tab.

It wasn't always laggy. It just is now. Btw, my ram is 2GB, but my video card is crap. ATI Mobility Radeon x600.

Gmax isn't that bad if you dont use all those tools :P

gmax IS 3DS max without the render option and STL check (which doesn't even work all the time for halo stuff).
I even made mine LOOK like 3DS:

Oh, and

Have you applied bitmaps/materials? Do that last. Also, set the options Manic specified. It does this in 3DS also if you have faces selected in RED. Press f2 to get rid of the red while you rotate.
