I am trying to help my son play maps we have downloaded from this website. I have read everything I can find on accessing and using the console and I am able to go into console mode and load the maps, the name of the map will morph onto the srcreen in the lower right hand corner then fade away, but then the game just sits there and does nothing. I can tell it is working because the clouds will be floating past or the stars will be twinkling, but we dont get a Spartan or any character. No vehicles, no weapons etc. Just a big empty map. Here are some details: We are using Windows Vista We are using Halo CE 1.0.9.620. We have Halo PC installed on this computer. I am pretty sure we have downloaded and installed the maps properly (they do load). These are the maps I have downloaded: hugeass, a30, and extinction. Any suggestions?

Try running from a LAN Multiplayer game.
You can only run MP maps in multiplayer. You don't need to run the MP maps you download here through the console. Only run a map through the console if it's a single player map (Which will be stated in the map's description.)

Can you be more specific? What happens when you try to play HCE? Is there an error message? Is there an issue with the map?

the ui turns in multicolor and icant see the optins. but i can select the options blindly. i selct multiplayer (in multiplayer and in the subselections i see the options) and then i select create game in lan .then appears every map i download from the web without put it in the folder maps. i select one and i determinate the tipe of the game and it loads the map but then appears a text with:Error: Gathering exception data.

reinstall halo CE,somethings corrupt,however this time install it in a new directory

what i ned to do to put any map?

no dont do that
just rename your file dir from halo custom edition to halo custom edition2 that will fix your error most likliy otherwise pm me and il see if i can help
