Use bsp to obj converter, convert to editable mesh, delete everything but that part of the bsp.

no bsp tag converter 2.5 names materials for you and stuff its actually pretty good.
Dsalimander recommened it to me because my method before sucked. he said thats what he did for spv2 when he needed to make bsp's

rip a30, replace textures, shift drag it.. fix it up to needed, kaboom. Lots of forerunner crap to work with and that piece you wanted.
