Yes it does. The map was compiled with a hacked version of tool that removed all error checking. They used it because it was too large to compile using the correct tool, if you will excuse the pun. As a result the map compiled but will exception if you move outside of the core area.

noticed that indeed. Is there a way to make a map chaeck it whit normal tool but because it's to big after debugging compile it whit the hacked version? (btw is the hacked version tool_pro? I read something like that...)

Tool was designed to only allow maps that will run in the game engine to compile. Bypassing those restrictions by hacking tool only makes the game unstable.

Jesse went back and completely scaled down the high res bitmaps, removed anything unnecessary, and did some other optimizations.

Weapons and new content take up loads of space, since they contain things like higher-poly models and bitmaps which pretty much make Halo 1's content look like a joke.
Then again, we are almost 10 years in the future since CE's making.

Textures pay a very heavy toll on tagsizes. CE engine seems to fail at compressing .bitmaps so they're huge :( People insist on 2048x2048, but see how tiny your mapsize gets when you optimize it all to 512's :D I think Jesse did something similar. Pickup icons are smaller now and other things too.

Check my gaming rig. http://www.xfire.com/profile/4 high quality fans, all temps at normal, and that should say 6 GB of Memmory, and I still exception on occasion. It has to be within the map itself. Something wrong that makes it exception.

Then again, we are almost 10 years in the future since CE's making. Don't make fun of Bungie's original toys. The classic tagset still works just fine, and is still better in terms of balance, due to the fact bungie made a lot of weapons weaker in the games following Halo: CE.
