Seriously, I played B30 about twice. After that, my PC started making weird noises. Turns out it was my CPU fan running at HIGH RPMs. My video card started to get REALLY hot. wtf is up with that?!? BTW my CPU idles at 70 degrees celcius for no apparent reason. Got that dust out of my PC and everything. wtf!? I NEVER had any problems like this before I played B30. It started to happen right after I beat it 3 times. Are there any scripts in SPV2 that is hardware damaging?

EDIT: i'm on my laptop right now. that's why i'm on here.

If the average temperature where you live is warmer than average, then it is likely that your computer will heat up quicker than usual.

I thought you had a really good computer o.o

Halo scripts cannot harm a computer. They are limited to what the Halo executable is capable of doing.

Your computer either is really bad, or it could be your cpu/graphics card fudging up on you.

yours fans were probably forced to run at faster speeds due to the need to process all of the graphical effects which CMTv2 has.

The file sizes in the maps are also much larger which is much more to process. So you probably need to upgrade your fans or something to cool your hardware.

were u running anything in the background?
make sure that ur heat-sink didn't come loose(on cpu and card, iv had it dislodge randomly, cause of expansion and contraction of parts due to heat but m pc shuts down b4 damage occurs)
were u playing a game that u didn't meet the requirements for b4 u played the map?
does ur pc even meet the min req of halo ce?

if yes to anything, check ur parts. either loose, bad compound,or crappy pc.

Well if his Desktop fans have issues, then his computer is more than 5 years old. Mine's a laptop and although it can't run Halo with Specular and Shadows on at High Res, it can still run SPv2 like any other map.

My guess is that you had too many apps running in the background while playing Halo CE. Basically, anything can cause CE to go awry if too much is running, such as Xfire and Antivirus programs. I remember before I got my antivirus that my laptop could run Halo CE at optimal preformance (with no shadows) on MP and SP. However, now since the antivirus takes up RAM, I have to dumb down the graphics a bit. I also use VSYNC, which always runs better for me when playing SP maps (and probably MP too).

I would upgrade fans anyway. Apart from cpu fans, most others are very cheap.

You should probably get or fixed the promblem with you fan that way it can cool it down faster. I have pretty fast computer that can run game with amazing graphics like Napoleon: Total War or some steam games. But usually I have got normal graphics instead of high becasue it way too long to load...

Anyways you either to get a new cpu fan or fix your and or find whats wrong with.

Did you even use any thermal paste when you built your computer?

his might be a prebuilt stock system, adn the paste may have dried up/denatured. especially if its old, probably used a pad, like teh old xboxs(i foudn how funny about how easy the fix was for ROD). make sure again: all fans are seated,no extra apps are running in background, dont bog down ur downtrodden system even more with av,xfire, aim, msn, and w/e else ur running. but from u say a bout how it 70c at idle, and causes u to shut down during a large map, ur cpu is overheating. replace/re-paste ur heat sink(and fan if they are stuck together). if u dont know how, dont do it, have a techie do it. u might just 'f something up even more and kill ur cpu/mobo(which if u dont fix will happen as well)

Sorry I wasn't able to be on today. My PC is only 4 years old. Here are my specs. Anyways, my PC started acting up after I played B30 three times. I had no problems at all before I played SPV2. I can play other games like L4D2, and Halo 2 with the highest settings possible. I PC can run Halo CE without any problems. Except for the problems with B30 when my PC started acting up. My CPU idles at 70 degrees celcius even when i'm in the BIOS. SAme goes for when I boot into vista. I know it's not vista's fault. Otherwise my PC would only be idling at 70 C in vista. Not in the BIOS.

Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz (2 CPUs), ~3.0GHz
Memory: 2048MB RAM
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9400 GT

Could be an NVIDIA problem. Oh, and you should probably leave your computer alone for a while too.

I wasn't using the drivers with the overheating problems. I was using the latest NVIDIA driver. No idea why it's overheating like that though.

Shouldn't matter how old your PC is, as long as you keep doing proper and regular maintenance.

...which by "maintenance" I mean replacing parts when they get too out of date or too worked out.

...which by "replacing" I mean gradually phasing out your computer by removing and replacing parts one by one until nothing remains from the original.

Well, anyways, Halo CE is just a beanbag that can't kill your PC. It might hurt, but the only way it'd kill your PC is when it keeps hitting you, and that's what Halo CE can't possibly do.

I think it's pure coincidence that your computer decided to start burning up after playing through b30 thrice. No one else seems to have any issues with it. If it's none of the above errors , I suggest you replace the fan or if you're cheap , like me , get one of those little fans and aim it at the CPU , then leave it on. Oh , and you should try turning off the computer more often.

Actually it was meant to be run on ATI cards, which is why most Nvidia cards don't even show the cloaking effects properly, The game runs just as fast on Nvidia, just some effects are fudged up.

BTW, what I recommend doing is taking apart your whole PC, even take the processor out of the socket, check the thermal paste, it may need replacing, same goes for the GPU. Also, check the capacitors on the mobo, if they have a wierd gook on them, or, of the tops seem a little bulge, the mobo may be going bad. These kind of problems aren't something to shake a stick at.

Thermal paste is brand new. I put some on yesterday. Still getting the same problems. My cpu fan isn't running at high RPMs anymore. It's idling around 60C. Reseated my heatsink twice. I got out all of the dust last month. Still nothing.
