well i recently had to format my laptop. Losing all data with it. Anyways, i installed 3dsmax again & it was working fine for me. Well after i exited the program, because i had to go out. I came back & opened up the program. But something happened. Normally you have the grid set up & the 'file', 'tools', 'view' etc. tend to actually be in a usable state. Ill upload a picture of what happens after it fully loads. Ive waited for 30minutes, thinking that my laptop was being slow on me. But that's not the issue.

laptop doesnt work well with 3ds max(i have 3dsmax9 as well) for some reasons, try reinstalling it. A corrupted pic, maybe?

nah its not a corrupted pic. Its that i use 2 screens. 3dsmax takes up the left side (main screen) & my laptop's built in screen is the desktop background you see on the right.

yeah i use 3dsmax 2009 aswell. But this is the first time its ever stuffed up on me. & yes i have tried reinstalling it.

EDIT: oh yeah, forget the bottom right 'black part'. Technically you dont see that on the monitors. :p

oh ok, have you tried calling technical support(not sure if they will help with older versions), other than that idk.

Just use max8

you sure there's no other solution? coz i really want to finish some of my models off and get them ingame. Which i have worked on for weeks. & if i use max8, i wont be able to use them again. :(

get a friend to export them as .3ds for you?

lol good point. *sigh. now i have to move backwards and go to max 8 now :(

Glad to see it works. Don't listen to anyone telling you to downgrade. There is always a way.
