guys, would it be theoretically possible to put trigger volumes all over the map and several model permutations, each with corresponding cubemaps, and a script that makes it switch to the correct permutation with the correct cubemap? so it's not like, lol there's no tree there, why is there a tree in his visor lol

There is a flag in some shader or other for dynamic mirroring. Don't think it's a shader model or anything though, so i doubt it'll work on a biped.

It only works on completley planar surfaces and it only works on environment shaders.

Alpha series, your picture is good, but it's kinda confusing.
Is there a more in-depth tutorial?
