Before I start work, I just wanted your opinions.

Would you want a simplified Halo Toolset or not?

Here's a list of Upsides and Downsides:

Upsides:
Newbies can make maps easily
We can make bigger maps in shorter spaces of time
It would be handy for testing out new tags

Downsides:
There would be loads of maps being made, and Halomaps would probably be overloaded.
There would no longer be a high respect for those who can mod Halo
There would be so many maps on the same idea that it would just get boring
It would be hard to download all of the maps in time to play on servers.

Exactly. That's what I was worried about. If I did make a toolset, there's quite a big chance it would be abused.

or what dennis could do (hypothetically, if this toolkit got finished) is arrange a team to test all submitted maps and if its not a total piece of crap then upload it.

1.) i agree, respect doesnt matter
2.) true, there will be more maps and more noobs, but that means a bigger CE community doesn't it?
3.)it would be cool not for making a sweet looking map neccesarily, but to play around with and release a few things. you never know what a "noob" will come up with.

A bigger CE community is a good thing yes, but a bigger CE mapping community isn't necessarily a good thing.

I'll start working on this toolset tomorrow if I have nothing else to do. Whether or not I release it will be up to a poll after I've made it.

Just use what you have, instead of wasting your time to develop more tools/

Halo's toolset is already pretty simple to be quite honest. You just need some basic computer skills and some common sense (which, strangely, doesn't seem to be all that common around here) and you'll be good. Any problems you have have probably already been answered so you can just search the forum and 90% of the time, you'll find the solution.

n00bs? You people are iggnorant beyond belief? Here's a bit of history for the young folk... n00b, is actually, OMG, short for newbie. And a newbie is someone who is....ummm, new? Who are YOU to diatribe the very same people you were. (And most still are) The term "n00b" has been hopelessly manipulated into a term to describe good-for-nothing a-holes. If you want a term that describes what you want, use "leechers". Even the best of us started out as "n00bs" The toolset sounds like a good idea and creates a somewhat user friendly approach to an increasingly advanced modding skillset. It would introduce a new way of modding that would ease modders into spaien and guriella. Oh, and think about this, these so called n00bs have moved into Halo: Custom Edition. Why? Because they realize the limitations of Halo PC tools such as spark edit and HMT. They want to create something better.

You guys do know that the definition of noob is nothing to do with a toolset, right? XD

I'll get to work on this toolset asap. :)

I'm excited for this (mostly because I'm a noob). But don't let anyone break you down to where it's canceled. I hate when people just troll and mess everything up.

I won't let them break me down until it's cancelled. But I will let them break me down until I don't release it to the public. Because there are consequences along with the good things about making a simple Halo Toolset, and I'm going to let others decide whether or not they want me to release it. ;)

This would really be useful, not just so that "noobs" can use it, but so the more experienced can knock off an idea really quick, kind of like a draft. This would leave the most important part, the idea, left intact and unpolluted by the (somewhat tedious) process. All in all, this is potentially a great idea. Good luck :)

theres "newbs" and theres "noobs"
nobody spells it with a 0 besides you. stop calling people ignorant because the majority of your post was just a large "umad" situation. again, NEWB is short for newbie, noob is just derogatory. its the the difference between the terms "homosexual" and "fag"

oh and not every halo ce modder came from halo pc. dont call people ignorant if youre going to spew false information.

E: and in response to this program, i have no idea what you plan on doing, but we have had multiple projects like this before. they have all either failed or been proven as unnecessary. youre better off just learning the tools.

Newb and noob are used interchangably throughout this forum (for the most part) Also, i never said that EVERYONE came from halo pc. Most of them did however.

Altough, that "difference between the terms "homosexual" and "fag" was an AWESOME way to put it.

To be honest, I've tried on multiple occasions to make sense of HEK and it's pretty darn confusing. A simplified toolset would be a great thing. Respect shouldn't be something that is argued when it comes to this seeing as no one respects anyone here anyways. It would allow a lot more people to make actual maps instead of simple mods that we all hate. IMO, it's an idea that should have been made a reality a long time ago and I think it's good that someone is finally doing it.
