Hey guys,
For an assessment item, I have to modify a game engine, and I have chosen halo,
I used to be an avid modder using sparkedit etc, but i am new to the HEK.
Would anyone be willing to spare some time helping me out with going from a map created in gmax 1.2 to a final .map file?

I will model the map, then I need someone to convert it using tool and all that as I can not get it to work and I don't have the time to learn it.

Anyone interested in assisting, reply with your interest and we shall discuss more.
14 days max of time to do it in, so no great rush.
I would be greatfull if anyone could even get it to the .scenario file.

Peace out

You can't modify the engine. I's not open souce. You can however make a custume map. Please download hek and seach for the tutorial file. That file will learn you.

Well, as my post states, i am just creating a map, and dont have time to learn and go through the tutorial, ive tried, but failed, so anyone willing to lend an hour or however long it takes to go from 3ds to .scenario, i would be super appreciative.

Peace out

jms exporter. seach it on this site and read the readme. Than use tool to go from the jms to a .senario . You really should take the time for reading the HEK tutorial. It helps a lot and you only have to read it once to know how to make a map. (and u might need to make the tutorial map to learn it)

I think you are pretty cool Niels ,but, You have never made a map that works? You give alot of advice, not all good btw and tell people to do things you have not accomplished yourserlf?
Some people don't get the tutorial right away and learn better with one on one help. Can't harp when someone is trying.
Just a thought. Maybe post a map you have completed or some models so we can see what you are talking about. I see you talk I just don't see what it is you do?

So i take it no one wants to assist me in this? all i need is for someone to convert it from .3ds to .scenario, using tool, as it does not want to work on my computer. I will give due credit for when it is finalised and published, just give a reply as my 3d model of the map will be finished in a few hours and i would like to start populating etc asap.

unlike the other programs that are packaged in the HEK. tool cannot be opened directly from the program itself. You must use command prompt and direct it to there. Just copy the command prompt & paste it in your Halo CE directory file. Then open up the pasted command prompt and type in "tool" then the list of available commands will come up. Then use the ones you wish :)

Yeh, its not tool, its cause im using 3ds max 2010 and exporting the map as a .3ds file into gmax 1.2 then using bluestreaks .jms exporter from there, but i cant get it into the .jms file properly, using the listener that came with chimp, or the maxscript listener in there, all i really need is to send my .3ds map to someone who knows what they are doing, and then send it back as a .jms file, or take it a step further and send a .scenario file.
but yeah, any ideas or anyone willing to lend a hand?

WAIT A SECOND XSNODER! Why are you accusinfg me of not having made a map? I have! And it worked fine. However I had 2 irrelevand warnings in tool. Nothing intersting.

Add: I haven't finished my final map yet and wont do so anytime soon, so I haven't posted anything on halomaps yet.

If it is a perfectly sealed, scaled, and textured model.... trust me, it's easier than you think.

sirgir! You can send it to me if you like, and I can see if it will work. I have everything we need to make it happen.
Send me a mess on xfire if you have it. My xfire is ,of course, xsnoder or LCplxsnoder. If not then just pm me and I will give you my email. Peace

Niels, I am not trying to be rude I am just not a thin person. I am direct and I am glad you kinda understand this. I think you help out alot for someone new and I admire this, for It shows you are not a coward, confident in your knowledge and are willing to jump in and get your hands dirty. Try and give accurate advice though so someone new does not have to redue their work and be even more confused. This is why helping someone thru it is not always the wrong thing, some just learn a different way.
