Hey everyone,
I'm wondering what you think about this bsp.

I'm real bad at making textures. But I might try?

I don't think hes extracting them. This BSP looks relatively simple and he didn't seem to put much effort into making it detailed at all. Though I do have my doubts becuase this would look exactly how the Standoff bsp would probably look if it was ripped, and considering the people at Halomaps just rip out of Halo 3 non stop anyway.. H3 probably uses "static" meshes, no doubt that it dosent since its next gen. (Like in UDK were you just use scenery to make the details, etc.)

No rips. Took a while though. With the lines off I can get you to think there are more polys.

If it was from xtraction/alteration it would have all the faces triangulated.

Scenery. Those don't have textures either.
Anyone wanna texture this? Interiors are almost done.

Bungie model big rocks into their BSP usually.

Honestly, I don't think it's looking great. Your proportions are wrong, even though you have easy access to the actual overhead image of the map (heatmaps on Bungie.net). The silos should be relatively flat on the ground, but in your BSP they jut up too high, so a warthog would crash into it and a player would have to jump up to get on top.

Standoff, probably more than most of Bungie's maps, relies heavily on the contours of the ground and the shape and location of scenery. Your ground is way too low-poly to imitate the contours and get the proper feel of the original map. You also shouldn't rely on scenery for the rocks and silos, as it won't look as nice and probably won't have the right lines-of-sight and cover, resulting in a map that plays much poorer than its counterpart.

Normally I wouldn't harp so much on details, but I think that Standoff would be a very hard map to get right by modeling it from scratch because it relies so heavily on the small details.

Agreed with Arteen, meer 99%.

I've always wanted to model the bases. I'll model all the concrete parts, and you can model the ground if you want.. I've just always had the urge to make the bases, just no inspiration.

I declare you... inspired! If you wanna collaborate, that would be great.

Ah, and Arteen, I kind of agree with you. Lately I've been getting carried away with elevation and moved stuff around (mainly the dishes, but also the 'portholes') to get the right look. Don't worry, I am always sure to get the right proportions by the end. I believe that is what matters most.
Although, I disagree about the 'big feel' vs. the 'small details' when it comes from modeling from scratch, especially when it comes to copying bsps. The first step is always the hardest.
