If you want to OPEN a port then you can visit www.portforward.com and follow the directions.

Dennis i went to that section and there's nothing there on opening ports

Look in the section titled "Network ports required in Halo multiplayer game"
Then in the section under it titled "Microsoft Windows firewall" substitute Halo.exe with Haloce.exe

i remember one time i had to do this and i opened the ports needed for halo by typing them in somthing and i cant remember how i did that. this time i went to windows firewall and added the exception and that didnt work. the problem is that when i click multiplayer an error pops up saying thers trouble contacting the gamespy server

That will happen once in a while. Just wait for about an hour. Then try again. I had the same problem a while back.
