i'm wondering if there is a way i can get the POA model from extinction (the Genocide). i've looked at the tags in HEK+ and have found no gbxmodel or any other mesh i could use in a map. all i found was some scenery items for things like the bridge and hallway, and some bitmaps and shaders.
a search on the web has yielded only one result, and that is a heavily underdetailed model of the POA. I want the Genocide because a) it's already ready for use and b) it has the hanger that i need for my map. any suggestions?

That's because it's part of the BSP. Rip the bsp from a10 then import into max and put it in your level. It's to big to be a gbxmodel.

i've never been able to get ripping to work for me. i used to have the programs but got rid of them (along with everything else related to halo) for my new machine. now i don't have them, and don't know how to rip. additionally, i don't have max. i have gmax. i'm too poor to afford a $3500 program, have no way of getting some special license or whatnot, will not continuously attempt to use free trials, and will not attempt to illegally crack it.
the only thing i like about max that isn't in gmax is the rendering features, ability to export directly as .jms .jma etc directly without the use of a script, and the ability to create chamfered cylinders (makes wheel-making a cinch). just saying.

ok it works, except the extinction BSP is registering as corrupted, as the extractor says that some of the shaders are missing/corrupted, and told me to expect missing bitmaps. i figured it'd be fine, but my .obj importer for gmax won't import the file because it thinks it's corrupted or something
Also, the bitmaps are not working. Either that or I am not performing the proper operations in order to get the bitmaps from BSPs into my scene (the more likely of the two). Edited by CAG Gonzo on Mar 2, 2010 at 11:30 PM
