Sadly, no, because scripts can't carry on from one map to the next. You can technically load another map with a script, but that map will start off differently than the previous map.

The problem is, you CAN'T activate static or dormant scripts from a previous level. And yes, the map_name command is used to load the next level, if it isn't a campaign level. Otherwise, game_won will automatically load the next map in the chronological order of the campaign.

It's built into the engine. I don't believe that there is a way to change it.

Keep in mind, that if you want to do a new campaign, the map_name command works perfectly fine to load the next map.
