I was playing odst today and it came across my mind why dont we make an rpg map with a frigate stationed above it, just like rpg 5 where it has an interior, hangar, and a bridge. But this time how about we put in some usable HEV drop pods, in which we could drop out of the ships chutes and to the "battle" below with. this would of course mean having to make drop pods into usable vehicles. Now this is only an idea, and i hate to say it but i have no way to do this myself as im no good at making maps vehicles, ect. thanks for lookin, and if anyone would be willing to do this i might be able to do a basic "sketch" of the map to give you.

Wouldn't that take a good bit of scripting too to make it so that the drop pods........drop. I'm not a scripter but I would imagine.

Perhaps you can have the 'W' key trigger the drop function and have one seat in which you can't do anything. For the dropping part the HEV is going to be non-flippable (or atleast very hard to flip) and that on ground impact it plays an animation [the door detaching] and ejects the player. How about that?
I have almost no idea how the engine works, but I'm just saying this if this is possible. Edited by Tuaha on Feb 12, 2010 at 01:57 AM

Cutscenes don't exactly work online. One way this would be possible might be to model the pods , then allow players to board it like it was a normal vehicle , and it starts to drop when any key is used. Once it falls , players may exit the pod , and continue. There would be no point in allowing it to have a 'Eject' option , except for aesthetic purposes. Even if people re-entered the pod , there would be little or no point , except maybe to hide.

easy make it so the passengers are deathless and have the pod get killed once the player presses W causing the player to stay inside w/ out it being controlled. once the pod dies though the player hten can be afected by enemy fire.
