I have been working with open sauce lately and think its time to announce my project. by no means will it revolutionize halo ce however it will add a few features a number of people experienced with scripting will find useful. the first feature additions im ready to announce are the ability to determine if user is the server and a real timer. updates will come as i work on it.

Thats like asking if oil dissolves with water.

Protip: It doesn't

Open Sauce has, and probably never will be updated to 1.09. Open Sauce only works with 1.08 as of now, so any of you who updated are completely boned. I didn't update, so I can still play with my gravity command <3

Adding ability for scripters to sense for key presses, ie more inputs, thats about half done. numpad 1-9 may be available when its ready, current plans are 1-5 on numpad. will either be done via a new script function or via globals. cant decide yet.

We're also working (albeit slowly) on Lightmaps so that you can fully utilize the Lightmap Set section in the project_yellow tag. I'm helping with the suggestions on how to make that work. I want to use 64 lightmaps per BSP and hve a total of 64 BSPs at my disposal in the BSP sets. This would make for a wonderful day-night system.

Dwood, can we somehow also work in device synching? Would be a nice feature to have.

Device sync is possible but we need korn to update with a networking that doesnt crash the game. and only 32 bsps are possible, any more would be unwise. more lightmaps than that are reasonable, however.

Dwood, tell me what exactly crashes in CE. I know what the problem is, I believe.

Remember me mentioning how after 1.04 or whatever that patch was, how false packets got blocked?

Dome a favor. Compile me a DLL with networking enabled. I wanna see what crashes; the client or the server. If it's the client then it's a result of that bungie fix and that needs a work-around.

If I remember right, any time someone tries to open a door that is being synched, it boots them out of the game. Am i right?

You mean the one you sent me to test, or Korn's update?

I have successfully added to test if a player is the server. Now, with clever scripting, we can easily be rid of multiple bipeds on maps that have ai on them!

I have a short that's 0 for ui, 1 for local, and 2 for server, because 2 doesn't distinguish between local server and dedi server, we now have a dedi boolean.

These will all be compilable via OS_Sapienbeta.
