Hi there, I have a little question.

Most of you have probably played or atleast tryed RPG_Beta6 and in that case, have noticed the most annoying glitch that makes faces disepearing from certain perspective. The answer I was given was to portal the map. While using Exact portals did help back then, creating ''Generic portals'' never solved. Even worse, it added more errors when intersecting with interior segments and such.

The question is, what causes this and how do I get that fixed seeing that it's happening on any new map I make.

the only time i've seen this was with portalling, bad portalling. try placing terrain portals so that the player can't see them like behind large pieces of geometry that divide the map. i think distance to the portal is also a factor because it doesn't seem to cull unless the portal is far away or hidden from FOV.

Ow Come on I asked for a pause on that, I seek help on how to prevent that problem. Even without portals, the thing happens. Bad terrain portals only seem to help it get worse.

Obviously

As for the faces, yes it's related but given the size of the maps, regular portals don't do the trick and while Exact portals help, it just doesn't seem to be enough EVEN if the total amount of displayed faces at many point is about 30

It could just be that the map is just so big and detailed it's beyond the point where Halo can render it all at once, even with portals. I'm not sure exactly how big RPB_Beta 6 is or how many polies it has, but I've seen pictures and it looks really complex.
