I just recently got Windows 7 and reinstalled halo. To make a short story shorter. Where in the heck is my maps folder and if it's not there where is it pulling the original maps from? I can play those but i have no maps folder! WTF!

But you have a Halo Custom Edition folder? Are you running 32 or 64 bit?

Well there's no map folder at all. Anywhere on the computer. I even did a search for the folder.

do you have a halo custom edition folder? look for a button on the folder window that says compatibility files. im not sure how windows 7 works but UAC on vista caused things that were installed in the program files folder to be moved to a weird parallel system folder. it caused a lot of problems with halo modding for me. if you find a button that says compatibility files, press it and it should take you to that parallel folder. you can cut and paste your maps back in the main folder from there

If Halo CE is running properly then there IS a maps folder. The maps folder is hardcoded into the game so If you are running a standard install then the maps folder is located at:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition\maps

If you can't see it then you do not have sufficient privileges to access that directory and may need to login as the administrator and change the access rights to the \maps folder to allow you to see it when logged in normally. Only change the access rights to the specific \maps folder since changing it on higher level folders will leave your PC vulnerable.
