Well,
It has been a while since I have played Halo Custom Edition, and just the other day when I decided to have a play again, it wouldn't start. When I click on the Halo startup Icon, the game logo comes up in the small box with the blue border, then when it goes to fullscreen it instantly takes me back to my desktop with a white background image instead of my normal one. Now I have tried re-installing it and it still doesn't work, I am not getting any error messages or anything. I was able to play about two months ago until I tried a few days ago.

So basicaly when I startup HCE it closes almost imediately, Nuff said.

Please enlighten me as to what has happened.

Will you please take a screen shot of the issue , I cant tell what the problem is from your description.

Unfortunately, there is nothing to take pictures of. My issue is that when I startup HCE it just takes me right back to the desktop almost instantly. Once this has happened, my usual background image for my desktop is gone and is just white.

has this happened before?
update your video card drivers, then redownload the installer for Halo CE (which may get corrupted).
if this doesn't work, scan your comp for viruses and malware, they may interfere with the .exe of Halo CE.

No, this has not happened before. I updated my drivers a week ago but I'll try re-downloading it, but this is also happening for regular halo as well. As for viruses/malware, my computer performed its scheduled scan yesterday with no problems.

I have tried this, and it is now saying that I shouldn't do it because it can either brake my computer now or in the future....this is ridiculous...

By that you mean . when you went to rollback your drivers, you were warned by windows that things may no longer work? thats a generic warning, if all you are doing is rolling back your video drivers then how bad could it be?

Im no expert but i would try rolling back the video drivers.
If you have an install disk for a graphics card, you should use that to install the drivers that worked.

YES! Thank you so much Maniac, it worked!.....but still a bit odd that drivers would do that......not to mention that update boosted my performance on crysis while on high....oh well.
