whilst looking on many tutorials, it says to copy the tags onto some tag extraction thing? but when using it i cant seem to find one.
although another probelm that may be linked to the first one, is the fact that when i open a menu button (anytype) HEK+ freezes up and starts glitching up causing me to have to close it...
any ideas?

The Tag Extraction Queue is on the bottom right, and you can just drag the files to it. If that doesn't work try re-downloading the latest version of HEK plus.

to extract the tags, use your mouse and select all the items the you see in the map, then drag and drop them in the extraction queue. Next click extract and you are done.
as for the HEK+ crashing, that happens when you have dwm.exe (or specifically, Desktop Window Manager) running in the background. Apparently it ain't friendly with the HEK+ interface, so the only way is to either don't touch the menu buttons, or open up task manager and go to processes then look for dwm.exe in there and right-click it, select end process tree and confirm. You may have to do the end process tree thing twice (because dwm.exe restarts itself and you have to end it again), and vista would look crappy, but it has to be done...

Easy way to fix that. Right click the HEK+ shortcut, or if you don't have a shortcut, create one. Then, once you've successfully right clicked it, go to compatibility. There, click "disable desktop composition". Save, and boot it. If the tag extraction cue isn't on the right side, then go to the menu buttons, which should be working now. Go to View > Add-in Windows > Tag Extraction cue.
