Well, today i stayed home with a 101.4 fever, it sucked trust me. Anyway. It gave me some time to mess around a little with the orange box engine. I've tried many times before to convert models from 3ds and put them into hammer, but today something felt different. I decided to give it another try, probably the 4th attempt. I did some searching around and found some cool stuff. I decided to put this little tutorial together for you guys at Halo Maps.

To get started i recommend downloading and installing all of NEM's tools. You can find them at Nem's website, http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/

For this tutorial you will need:
VTFEdit: http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/index.php?c=178#p178
SMD Exporter: http://www.wunderboy.org/3dapps.php#max_smd
Ghost's GBXmdl importer: http://ghost.halomaps.org/bluestreak/gbxmodel/GBXModel_Importer_v2-0-0.ms
Halo Bitmap Extractor: http://h2v.halomaps.org/index.cfm?pg=3&fid=2148
These Programs: http://ts.wmclan.net/StudioMDLandModelnameqc.zip

Now, watch this video tutorial:

Once you have done everything, you should have working models in game! It's really that simple!

Nice work. By the way, 101.4 is nothing. When it's bad you can't be on the computer at all without pain.

You should probably check your temper again... Either that or you have something where the fever is not a very bad part.
I had 103.8 a couple weeks ago. That was hell.

I'm in NOCLIP mode so i can get a good screenshot of them. They are a good size actually.

Source won't do bsp's. Only convex hulls, so any doorways or anything like that will be blocked. I have gotten a bunch of custom stuff in. Most of my objects are dynamic as well so you can move or throw them.

I think if you export the BSP as a .OBJ and import it into a program that can export as a file that Hammer can import then it should be fine!

But for the love of all that is living DON'T CONVERT BLOODGULCH! Do a PC exclusive map or better yet do a custom map like Yoyorast island.
